QLD 3/772 & may reach the 1,000 runs mark.Whilst they deserve their win the final has turned into a farce. Some restricitions should be in place to avoid this nonsense.

the way for this nonsense to stop is for the Vics to get some wickets MB
Yes,but they ain't.

Re: Cricket

Qld currently 3/857.

The International first class record for an Innings Score is:

1,107 Vic v NSW, Melbourne, 1926-7.

Thanks Phantom, new record likely to be set.

Re: Cricket

For the final the previous record might be Queensland's 664 when they first won it in 1994/95. They beat South Australia by an innings and 101 runs.

Re: Cricket

Thought the Vics scored 700+ in a final a few years ago , possibly v QLD , so think this is 'payback'..

Re: Cricket

Downstairs, in the old Richmond Social Club, there was a framed photo of the scoreboard of that record Innings. It was positioned near the far end of the back bar.

It must have been over 20 years since I've seen that photo.

I remember looking at it before every home game of every season, when I was a teenager.

I'm sure it is MJ.If I was captain of Vics I would concede, walk off & fly home.

I would bowl beam balls for a couple of overs. ;D

What point is there even playing tomorrow?

Just a waste. I would bowl Mash and Arneberger, got nothing to lose.

Re: Cricket

Exactly, if they needed to take 20 wickets to win the match they would have declared by now.

I suppose the draw being good enough for the home side is in order to avoid a replay with the Gabba and the SCG being needed for football in the next few weeks, a situation which would normally apply to the MCG as well. Although the final was held at Neumann Oval/Allan Border Field when the 'Gabba was being resurfaced in 2000, and I'm sure the Junction Oval or North Sydney Oval could be used if circumstances required. Not like you get huge crowds for the Shield Final any more, unless Tasmania were to host it in Hobart.

Re: Cricket

QLD now reach 900.If Vics can just get these last 4 wickets & then whip up a quick 750 put QLD back in & bowl them out then the Pura Cup's ours.Minor problem is we only have 1 more day to do it.

we should bat all day and defend grimly. no attacking shots. let them field all day while we score 0/100 off 70 overs.
Forget that poppa,Vics are already 2/37.Hodge 28no

Re: Cricket

Second Test, Durban
Australia 369 and 307/4 dec. (Ponting 116, Hayden 102)
South Africa 267 and 29/0
Stumps, day four
South Africa require a further 381 runs to win with all ten wickets in hand

Looks like there was no further play last night. Haven't seen a weather forecast for the last day -- rain or bad light might have the biggest influence on the outcome.

Re: Cricket

Andre Nel is officially a tool.

Gilchrist belted him for 22 in an over and the dill was still mouthing off at Gilly. Thought he was going to hit him for a minute there. What a wally ::)

Agree entirely - I watched that last night and couldn't believe my eyes - classic case of ego before ability.

I rarely admit to disliking a Cricket Team but this South African mob irritate me something fierce - I don't know whether it is their arrogance or their demeanor or whether they are all related to the boars of 1901 fame - but they rile me.

PS the only other Cricket team I have ever disliked was Illingsworths English team that played our second XI during the early days of the Packer Series Cricket....
