Smith has lucky escape where it looks like he was caught behind but given not out.Aussies constant appealing may be coming back to haunt them.

Agree - should of been 3 down without doubt. Simmonds didnt help by going up very late of his own bowling though Mb.
Aussies looked dismayed when Simonds has an lbw turned down.Ball clearly pitched outside leg & too high.Umpires holding firm.

Re: Cricket

South Africa 3/230 at stumps & in a strong position. Thanks to channel 9 for once again not showing a full day's play.Macgill continues to bowl rubbish,Bracken would have been handy.

Braken would of definetly be more of a asset than McGill especially with the pitch the way it was in the first session. And with us not bowling last imo it could of been a costly decision but that is just hindsight Mb. The Aussies looked very flat after Tea and you are right the SA's are in a strong position atm and I am calling a draw as of now but who knows.........

A good 1st innings would certainly put South Africa in a strong position.I wouldn't want to be chasing alot of runs in the 4th innings.

Re: Cricket

Why people still suggest MacGill would be a walkup starter for any other Test side defies me - we heard it from Richie this morning. He may get some wickets (usually late in the innings), but the amount of trash he bowls, and the amount of runs scored off his bowling tell me no, he would not make all that many sides in the world. He frustrates the hell out of me anyway.

Re: Cricket

tony greig has come out with his usual anti-vic bias again. This time saying the SCG is the perfect ground for cricket. Why? because tickets are always at a premium, so you just can't walk up and get in, you have to plan ahead, unlike the MCG. Why being not able to just decide on the day to buy a ticket at the gate makes it the perfect cricket ground escapes me, but then I'm not t.greig. No disrespect meant to kerry packer, but with him now gone, please p!ss greig off.

Agree Interested,Macgill also appeared to have words with Ponting yesterday because Hussey bowled before him.Macgill should be more respectful to his captain.12 overs of rubbish yesterday against batsmen will probably be followed today with a couple of wickets he'll get when he dismisses a couple of bunnies.

What would Richie Benaud know about leg spin bowling anyway?
Never mind MacGill. The wicket didn't suit the spinners on the first day as evidenced by the fact that Warne was only bowled for 10 overs. MacGill is a logical selection for the SCG, particularly if bowling last. It's all too easy in hindsight after the toss to suggest Bracken should have been picked. It's the quicks lack of penetration on a seaming pitch which should have the selectors more concerned.

Re: Cricket

What happened johnno? I've just put the cricket on.

Re: Cricket

Richie has always been enamoured by leg spinners. He's a great man, but the way he waxes on about Magill get's way over the top at times.Has always been ordinary in my view.

Kallis set for a  ton.Shaping up as a good contest.

Re: Cricket

Don't think Warne would be to worried.Still has plenty of cash & future earning potential. Why we continue to see Macgill bowl his rubbish ahead of Warne is hard to understand.

Re: Cricket

Prince gets his ton to take score to 3/303.Aussies desperately need breakthrough. Finally Warne into attack.

Re: Cricket

The pommy bloke just said in regards to princes ton."a great achievement against 4 very fine bowlers" or words to that effect.
Mcgrath
Lee
Warne
who,s the 4th?
Symonds or Hussey? ;D
