Changes v Western Bulldogs.

Martin, Hopper Sonsie are the easy ones who must get in, same with Short if fit.

Mansell - easy out. Gets harder after this.
Ralphsmith - wasn't awful but didn't take his chance.
Clarke- out of the squad but the sub.

Now, if Short comes back and this isn't like for like or picking one over the other, I could have listed them in any order but I think it's time for a change on our wings.

Can we rotate one attacking player for McIntosh? We need more class at the moment. Can we get Short, Sonsie, Clarke, Both Rioli's, Cotch, Dusty running through the wings offering something different? I feel like we need to make a change. I don't think it's Graham, we need his midfield pressure. He is a point of difference.

But we need to do something.

Agree. Graham is playing HFF which he has a limited ceiling for. I'd like to see Clarke play there for a couple of weeks instead.
Graham too slow to be playing HF
Cant have a forward line that has Graham Riewoldt Lynch and Martin in it

It’s already been reported that Shorts another week away for coming back.

I'm just going by dimmas presser when he said all of dusty, hopper, and short will be back. I didn't hear if anyone else has stated short will miss another week.

I remember very clearly Hardwick say they were impressed & looking at how the Cats managed their older players last season & that they were looking at ways to implement that. Won't be surprised if we do things a bit differently this season to what we have in the past. Even Dusty being rested last week (6 day break) could be part of the plan.

If so, please rest Cotchin this week, bring him back for Gather 'Round.

Based on current form, we play games we should win against the Bulldogs and Sydney,- not easy but winnable certainly.
Melbourne is another matter.
Wrong now to select players who will just get by and might be a part of winning teams in those first two matches but unlikely to be significant in a win against the D’s
It is a bit chancy but Sonsie should come straight in, Cumberland and Young should stay in and Dusty, Hopper and Short should return when fit.
One of Miller and Ryan should also come/stay in.

Green also is going to be a player. Should take Shorts place if he isn’t fit.
Preparing for Melb and beyond, hope we go with Miller/Ryan Clarke Cumberland Green, Sonsie and Young this week.
My four outs are Mansell Ralphsmith Rioli with Jack managed, possibly to return against Lever?

Big game. I hope it is wet and we go smaller.

Listening to Hardwick's presser he was very unimpressed that we handed the ball back to them 28 times in our forward line in the first half. Only 8 times in the second half. This showed in general play and partly on the scoreboard in the second half. Will he think that he's fixed this problem (in the second half) or will he make further changes to his forward half structure to stop this happening again? Obviously Dusty and Hopper (and Shorty if fit) will come in which makes us a much better side anyway but does he tweak a bit further this week in our forward line?

Noah Balta,Dylan Grimes,Tylar Young
Liam Baker,Nick Vlastuin,Daniel Rioli
Kamdyn McIntosh,Dion Prestia,Marlion Pickett
Maurice Rioli, Jayden Short, Dustin Martin
Jack Riewoldt,Shai Bolton,Tom Lynch
Toby Nankervis, Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper

IC: Jack Graham, Hugo Ralphsmith, Samson Ryan, Noah Cumberland (sub) Jack Ross

Out: Rhyan Mansell , Trent Cotchin, Judson Clarke
In: Hopper, Martin, Short

Think we need to try Shorty in the F50. Ralph stays in for defensive rotations. Too soon for Arthur.....

I want to see Clarke stay in the side. He's got some zip and skills and potential. I'd rather he was retained in front of Mansell or Ross. I note plenty want him dropped.

We need better skills both in our forward 50 and going into our F50.

Bulldogs V Lions had 3 tall forwards Naughton , Lobb, JUG having dropped Sam Darcy

Do we swap Miller for Ryan incase one of those talls gets the better of Young ?
Lobb - I categorize like Joe Daniher , looks for easy options , not the hardest worker , but can put 4 or 5 goals on you
JUG - I have been watching him closely still young and developing , gets the odd cheap goal , but is starting to lay a few tackles and fly properly for marks , have last weeks events fired him up ?
Naughton - we have to respect , he's hurt us in the past , he works hard and throws his body around and can leap from just about anywhere so is hard to match up on , thankfully his set shot kicking is poor , is due for a bag .

Do we put Grimmes on Naughton to wear him like a glove and take away his leap ?
Leaving Balta to play on Lobb and run off him
and Young to mind JUG ?
and have Miller on the bench as insurance ?

F Riewoldt Martin MJ
R Nank Prestia Taranto
I/C Miller Cotchin Ross Ralphsmth

Normally I would think that too but we didnt look very impressive against the Pies in the first half!!

Yeah i think our wet track form might be a thing of the past.

A few recent retirees where mudlarks.
