Changes v the Cats

We are not going to defeat Geelong without a specific plan so how about some lateral thinking just for this match.
Short Grimes Young
Rioli Balta Vlas
Pickett Prestia McIntosh
Broad Bauer Baker
Martin Nyuon Bolton
Ryan Hopper Taranto
Int: Graham Miller Riewoldt Mansell/Clarke Cotchin
Soldo for Miller if available. Broad to negate Stewart/Tuohy
Good luck Grimes on Hawkins
Nyuon and Bauer add mobility, size and marking power which was lacking last week.

Bauer and Nyuon wont be playing. Broad will play back on Cameron or Rohan or Henry. Balta on Hawkins. If a stopper on Stewart then Pickett who has been playing forward.
Short wont be back pocket. Ross will be in 22.

Dimma's words and actions towards Cumberland are deliberate and repeated
Clearly everyone loves Cumberlands scoring involvements and he has proven to be quite potent of a limited number of touches
which makes me think he is either not working hard enough and/or not running patterns he is told to
from normal vision Cumberland certainly tackles and works hard in and around the packs
But I know they watch replays closely and have the vision up the ground which quite different to what we see

His stats also say not finding much of the ball
and, sigh, Sonsie , Hugo and Mansell are all similar and all being subbed out and dropped similarly

Let's hope this tough love breeds hard working, disciplined first graders who value their spot in the side
not flashy players who drift in and out of games

A few things have changed in regard to Dusty who played more time on ball against the WC than we have seen for some time. Ditto with Shai, which is a particularly good move especially as Ryan is emerging as a ruckman who is able to effectively palm to a team mate.
Clarke, Dusty and Shai to enjoy the opportunities so created.

Also room now for Cumberland to take the right forward pocket, hopefully with Noah taking over from Jack in the goal square and with Noah taking instructions to knock the ball in Cumberland (and Clarke’s) direction, whenever possible.

These three are clever. Again if Balta can get a few down to Clarke and Cumberland with goals to follow then all is forgiven.

Thanks Ryan your inside knowledge from the MSC is amazing.

Some here seem to be focusing on retribution for Tom Stewart. How about putting that to one side and acknowledging that he has been a great defender and will be out with the rest of his team, to punish us for the success we have had in the past, at their expense.

He plus Hocking and Scott will be licking their lips at the prospect of Jack playing deep and giving him the opportunity of another rout. We are long shots to win it but lets not give it away at selection.

They showed the Coleman stats.
Jizza and Pork have kicked something like 50 goals.
Obviously two key players to shut down.

Well we won’t win a shoot out as we struggle to kick a lot of goals - our efficiency inside 50 is still poor.

If we can get our defence to find it’s early season form and we win enough stoppages and clearances we may keep ourselves in the game but right now we have no answers to their 3 aces in Hawkins, Cameron and Stewart.

If we remain competitive and close-ish (say within 4 goals) it may mean we have actually turned the corner - I am not confident we will be able to do this though.

Our competitive advantage is our midfield.
One thing to pump the stats against the lowly Eagles but thing altogether to play Geelong.
They've got to play really well again if we are to be any chance.

This is where I think we have the advantage over them. Dominate here and we are in with a chance. Geelong will no doubt rely on turnover to get the ball going forward and quickly into Cameron and Hawkins.

I don’t boo players personally (umpires at quarter time I put my hand up for though), but are other Richmond fans gonna be allowed to boo Tom Stewart on Friday night ?

Given it's the Cats we'll probably have a Behavioral Awareness Officer escort us out.
Good point. Who determines who and when a fan can boo someone or something at the football now ?

Are fans allowed to call Mason Cox a spud still ? Or is that offensive, workplace bullying or whatever ?

So many questions…. :ROFLMAO:

Yep. I won't be wanting our players to go with the violent approach but I reserve the right to boo that prick relentlessly.

We should be lining Marlion up on him though. He doesn't have to do anything outside of the rules, but a few well timed hard tackles into the ground would be nice. Make him hear some Marlion footsteps would help with reducing their ability to intercept in their back half.

Vlaustin back in form and broad back in team is crucial. Hopefully we can see some of grimes best and Balta has no brain fades and keeps doing his excellent aerial work.

Hawkins in forward ruck contests is a worry.

Afl to announce fans will be allowed to boo once a qtr for about 3 seconds look for the Boo Now on the scoreboard
Booing must not exceed 15dB if it does those booing too loud will be ejected from ground

Go for it, but if you are booing him for the 10th time and it is still the 1st quarter, it might be time to stop!
