Changes v Mutts

Whoever said our midfield transition is the problem was spot on. No Chimp, Dion, Caddy or Sheds, Lambert completely nullified, Higgins too slow and can't kick, Graham too slow and can't get it, Naish too small and timid, and KMac. It's a tribute to our system and/or a condemnation of GWS that we got so close and should have won.

In: Chimp, Stack, RCD
Out: Naish, Graham, and one of Higgo/Aarts/Rioli

In: Cotchin, Stack, Dow

did you miss the first half on Friday Olds and spook? misread the start time as 20.50?

Higlet 2nd BOG after $hai.

did it under significant duress too (corky leaking all over his hammy)

and coming 6th in PRE award = consistency.

his not lightening quick but work rate and smarts elite

Mainly from a management perspective with the short turnaround ezy. His output has decreased steadily over 3 weeks.

I'm going off injured reports and the need for forward pressure. Otherwise agree, he's holding his own with what he's got and was good in the first half.

I'm not inside the four walls re KPIs, so I'll leave that last out to those who are.

It's a coin toss between RCD and Dow. I see a need for RCD's size and power, and Dow's Shedness.

if we had Cotch in instead of Naish Friday night, we'd have won.

you could see dusty gritting his teeth, but was just short of company.

Cotchy would have been his wingman and got us up. I have no doubt.

to be snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with the side we had in is an incredible sign.

Im increasingly bullish.

September changes

Out: Kmac, Naish, Aarts, Chol?, eggs, danny
In: Cotch, DLTD, Dion, Shed, Bachar, Nank, Caddy

they might as well engrave the cup now

I think we are beyond the inexperience/vfl player tipping point and need to be very careful.

Id be going with catchy and stackman atm

That's a fair point.

I haven't calibrated the tipping point for a couple of years, cause I havnt need to.

But I can remember I had lambo in my VFL player category, so it obviously fluid.

even though I've been impressed with Chol's role, I still have him in the VFL leggier.

Kmac, chol, Naish, eggs, Aarts = 5 currently and think JR and Danny's form meant we tipped

think the number maybe 4?

mustn't exceed it.

Cotchy and Stackman for Naish and Aarts would get it back to 3

and should be able to get 8 points in the next week on our home deck

Is Stack the go to man now? Heaps of talent but way out of form.
Cotchin back in will be massive.
If only the Nank was good to go.

stacky is top 3 for upside on the list imo ($hai, noah)

Think giving latitude to the upside is the % play in our current circumstance.

Yeah cotchy and nank will be big ins.

Cotchy on his own in the form hes in is huge. Makes us 25% better i reckon

Need to get a pure midfielder into the side, Ross or RCD, preferably Ross. Also need another forward avenue, Markov in for Rioli.
In Cotchin, Markov, Ross
Out Naish, Aarts, Rioli

Soldo, chol, arts,Graham, naish all together had 26 touches, these will be the outs that are getting looked at.

Not great numbers I agree but since Nank has a few weeks to go, Soldo and Chol won't be dropped unless CCJ or anyone else is killing it in the scratchies.

It’s not just that he goes missing, it’s what he does when he gets it. Just hacks it out with no thought of what may happen after that.
Not quite, he takes on average a minute on his first thought, decides against that and then disposes, usually badly to the pack 40 meters ahead.

Clarke’s summary of how the Tigers’ players performed:

Oleg Markov

"Oleg was one who really stood out. He played across half back and did really well. His run and carry caught my eye."

Sydney Stack

"'Stacky' had time in the midfield and did some really good things in offence when he got the ball in his hands. He looked really lively around stoppages and contests which was great and did some good high-speed running."

Jack Ross

"'Rossy' played through the midfield and he did some really good things around getting the ball in his hands."

Riley Collier-Dawkins

"Played through the midfield. He kicked a really nice goal where he had three or four bounces down the wing and ran all the way until he was around 20 metres out and kicked the goal."

Callum Coleman-Jones

"Had some moments of playing to his strengths. He played ruck and went forward and kicked two goals which was good for him."

Lego certainly got a good review from Clarke so I would like to see him given the chance instead of anyone of our smalls (except Baker of course)

Agree about Balta and Bolton. But Cholly rather than Nank for mine.

Anyone else starting to question X's cognitive ability based on his insightless player summaries?

This is maybe a bit out of left field but hear me out.
I think our two big issues are our tall forwards and centre clearances. Jack and Tom only played a few games together last year (admittedly it worked) but it isn't now! We are just bombing the ball to a big pack and usually near the boundary line - our smalls are down in form but largely through lack of opportunity. I have rarely seen George, Rioli, Higgins hit up for a forward 50 pass - this was common place last season.
Possible solution - our wings are hardly killing it and we need elite kicks coming in to forward line. Let's throw Jack and Stack into the rotation. Jack is a good kick going into forward 50, as is Stack.
The Bulldogs ruck is a bean pole and Witts certainly had the better of him after he was BOG the week before against the Bombers lesser ruck division. Soldo needs to crash into him. I did like some of Soldo's palming work last week - he is definetly improving and doing well for a young ruck (in games).

Ins: Stack, Cotchin,
Outs: Graham, Naish

The idea is to get Chol, Jack, Stack and Rioli to play higher, KMac, Stack can play more of the defensive winger role, Jack and Chol kicking the ball inside 50. We need smalls to get out of Lynch's way. Don't recall one lead last week!

Assuming Astbury still unavailable.

PS: Can we charter a flight for Edwards?
