Changes v Mutts

We know Dimma doesn't make wholesale changes unless forced. But he must now be wondering where Rioli is at this season...
Reckon he'll just bring in Cotch and Rioli will go out. That leaves room for a re-jig of the smalls in the forward 50. Bolton must stay as a midfielder.
Higgins needs to play closer to goal where he is most dangerous. Picket could go forward? maybe even Baker. Markov could come in as a lead up half forward. Not sure who would go out to make room for Markov.
Naish will be lucky to keep his spot given his game last night but we'll need pace and good execution against the Dogs so he may stay. If he goes out RCD may come in.
DES will be lucky to hold his spot too. If he goes out Stack may come in.
Graham wont go out he's needed in the clinches, despite being slow.
Will be interesting to see what happens at selection this week as it is a must win game for us. Lose this one and we're back in the pack with 2 tough games with short breaks...

I wouldn’t make wholesale changes, but Rioli and Graham have to go as a minimum. I’d like to replace KMac, too. I just don’t know who with. Naish is starting to remind me of Corey Ellis. Delivers the ball well, but can’t get it himself.

Reckon the “ grappling coach “ they showed before the game wrestling with Lambert before the game has to be an out next week
What that has to do with football is unbelievable
Especially when our quick hands and touch last night was ordinary at stoppages
Dimma getting too cute

I agree. Lambo was so cooked he couldn't get a touch in the first quarter.

Need to start Playing CCJ - maybe give Jack a rest or I reckon we will loose him to some other team looking for a ruck/fwd like Collingwood or Essendrugs...

If that dud Bruce kicks goals against us next Wedezdey night then we need to put the season to bed and concentrate on rebuilding our best 22 for 2021.
He is the biggest cat in the game he makes Josh Jenkins looked like Tony Lockett.

Naish' defensive work is abysmal and his offensive work yesterday was very poor. I could understand the logic of Naish replacing Caddy because of his usual strength of ball use but we cant go Naish again if we are still serious this season. Cotchin and Stack are musts. Probably Graham misses. Castagna cant be played midfield as he just stuffs up our flow and ball use, I'd drop him but he'll play. Maybe get Dow in somewhere. Watching our two reserve grade rucks last night made me miss Nank even more.

Theres no way we will rush Astbury back. I'm hoping he might be right for the Port game. Need him to go with Dixon really.

Dixon is not that great in regards to being a Key Power Forward in regard to pack busting and big contested grabs. Hes more akin to sideshow Brown and gets most of his goals from Free Kicks.

Noah will be a good match for Dixon.

Dave being back is more important to allow Grimes and Broad to be freed up, thus allowing Tigga to play loose.

We can then tag Westhoff with Broad.

So many could go - for what was a grand final replay & us being the defending champs - utter crap. 4 would be the most you could see going out and even then, that would be very out of character for dimma. But a message is needed.

Out: Soldo, Chol, Rioli , Graham or Pickett
In: Cotchin,. CCJ, RCD, Stack

was tempted to put Riewoldt in as 'rested', except that he averages 4.5 goals a game against the Dogs and this would be a great chance for him to get some form up.

Soldo and Chol were pathetic. 7 touches, 1 mark between them. yeah Soldo won the hit outs, but against Jacbos thats not impressive. English is a good young prospect and a tall kid at that - so maybe a good argument to keep Soldo for the week due to the 17 round season.... not much room to drop players based on "a reality check" - but honestly, i think that is what a lot of our players need more than anything else - a big *smile* reality check. Playing CCJ and Soldo together is not an option - id honestly rather see CCJ be that guy, with Balta playing as a back up. Against English might be a good chance to see how that looks.

Rioli at least got some tackles this week - but again, needs a reality check. His previous form against the dogs is pathetic. - avgs about 0.3 goals and 2 tackes a game against them. He has ran out of f***ks with me.

One of Graham & Pickett to go. Somehow Pickett featured in our 'best' on the AFL website. surely a typo. The dogs are not a big pressure team and rely on rebound pace. Grahams lack of speed looks likely to make him only an inclusion for tackles. Pickett on the other hand is not very quick himself - but perhaps he will benefit more from the extra space that tends to be available against the Dogs. This was also the only reason i kept Naish in the side - probably better suited against the Dogs & not a fan of making kids wait for their chance, then yo-yoing them out - especially in a game when 2/3s of the team stunk it up.

So many though are on notice - Rioli, Graham, Naish, Aarts, Chol, Soldo, Pickett, Eggs, Riewoldt - 2 fifths of our side could get dropped and i wouldn't blink an eye.

As we play Rioli & Aarts week in / week out while Butler has a great year for the Saints, it really sucks. Currently BOG. The bag of chips we got for him was less than satisfying. Letting him walk for next to nothing perhaps says something about our complacency. We did it to "do the right thing" by the player for more chances etc - but reality is Butler would have had a lot of chances to play for us this year. Its a bit double standards if you ask me - expecting a playing group to be "ruthless" while the team management let talent walk to be Mr Nice Guy. - being ruthless to win is something the entire club should have as a minimum standard, not just the players
