He is playing more in a pure wing role now that Grigg is out.
Let's hope it stays that way.... on both fronts.

His link work between the 50m arcs is what we have been crying out for. He ain't too shabby on the left either. Lace out to Jack in the first quarter.SCOOP said:Let the plebs say what they want Smokey.
For years we've had no one able to run & link. Now we have a real gut runner who finds space and the ball and that's not enough. In year three averaging over 25 touches. Looking like a young Dane Swan but that's not enough for some.
Oh well. Been on the bandwagon before we picked him & we just keep on keeping on.

But seriously needs to start tackling, as does Martin.

agree with all that. At least his bad points can probably be fixed.Leysy Days said:The big positive is that he is running so hard to provide an outlet for his teammates is a great sign for his future. For many years not enough of our players have done this instinctively.
The negative is that he is learning some bad traits along the way i.e. he picks & chooses when to put his nose over the footy, his tackling attempts can be very poor and his back tracking into defence can be found wanting.
He's a very good case study for the development of the club. At an elite club these flaws wouldn't be tolerated and would be ironed out and with his skillset he'd finish his career a decorated footballer.
Interesting to see how he ends up with us.

No way he is working hard enough defensively but he doesn't seem to be in the gun for that. That is honest two-way football - frowned upon by tactical geniuses.
He was just lost with the ball today. I reckon he was in the gun for that. Late in the game he was sent forward. (It's very old-fashioned, Sheedy's last resort after he couldn't get a player into form anywhere else. Dimma<Sheedy.) Ellis got straight into it and quickly earned a set shot. A snack.
His kick was even worse than Jack's handball to somewhere near the Statue of Vickery. WTF? Ellis can't get the ball off his boot?
