His kicking was poor. His decision making was poor. He and Conca showed such promise, but have gone backwards this year. I understand Conca has not had a great run with fitness but he makes too many mistakes. Hopefully it's temporary and when the new coach comes in they can get back on track.
Agree Hugo. These young guys are learning too many bad habits under Hardwick's ultra defensive risk averse coaching. They need someone who will encourage them to play their natural game and attack the contest and play to their strengths, not maximise their weaknesses.

Worst game I've seen Ellis play - was a liability all night :(

Has gone backwards so quickly that he deserves a run in the VFL - however - who do we bring up???

The pool is very shallow :(

Actually thought he was worse last week. Bad last night too. It defies explanation, though.

Lacking a bit of composure lately. I think long term he'll be fine, he's the kind of kid who'll work on his game relentlessly. Best sign is that he's racking up the ball at will. When he puts it all together he'll be a very damaging player IMO.

His best and worse on display last night. Got into some great positions, but his composure and kicking has clearly gone backwards.

I'm still a big believer, I think with the right coaching he can be a Stanton-type player for us.

Last bloke to get 35 touches in year three and cop this big a hiding?

Please, far from perfect but the least of our worries.

Alex Rance is the least of our worries. Ellis is somewhere in the middle. Had 10 turnovers.

That's an issue, no doubt. But 35 touches isn't. Cut the turnovers in half and we are looking at ball winning machine.

He tends to play on too much and run himself into trouble, can improve.

There are plenty at the club that cannot improve

I like Ellis takes the game on, good mark his kicking of late has been hit n miss but one thing I've noticed more this year and it's annoying me bad well last few games I've watched him a bit closer and hate to say it but he is looking more like Shaun Grigg Mark 2, doesn't want to go near a contest and last night many times saw him go away from a swans player instead of attempting to tackle or run him down....

Needs to get this out of his game quick smart or he will soon be PRE's next whipping boy....

I was yelling at him not to run away at one stage last night. Problem is at Richmond, you don't get told off for that sort of stuff ::) Probably something you'll have to get used to.

I want to see dimma pull a player off the ground and tell him that's not acceptable but can't remember last time dimma did that, to many of our players are coasting, standards need to be set but I don't have faith that dimma can instill these non negotiables....

Ellis, Houli and others are being exposed for kicking because we have become too easy to predict. When they take a mark around the boundary line between half-back and forward of the wing, they will drop a little pass inside and look to switch into the corridor. If that guy can't go anywhere he drops a little pass back to the boundary and they try it again, another little sideways pass looking for the corridor.

They do it every time. And every team just sweats on them until they balls-it up.

He would be a very good attacking player under a decent coach with a decent game plan. The way we try and play the game is killing all of the natural instincts in attacking footballers like Ellis. It's horrible to watch.

However, Ellis really needs to improve his defensive game. It is quite poor at the moment. He seems loathe to pressure the oppositioon when they have the ball and when he does tackle it is nothing short of pathetic. Very weak.

Must be the chats at lockers 5 & 6. Maybe it's best they move Brando to a new guernsey number 22.

This is another example of Damien not being able to think on his feet and change things up a little. I don't think Wallace's heart was in it for at least his final 2 seasons, but he did at least have more than one game plan.

Already, well on the way to being our Stanton. Hated by his own supporters for his lack of chase and tackling and compiling soft possessions.

Yep.

36 possessions against a crap team. look, I rate ellis as a big talent, but the question needs to be asked... is he a downhill skier?
