Brandon Ellis

this bloke is weird. he has skill no doubt but something about him this year is annoying me. today he kicked straight to a Dockers player and Ballantyne ended up with it and goaled. the Ellis chase, even after a shocking blunder, was a jog. he also racks up the numbers, but is largely ineffective.
Agree his is an enigma. Has got the talent but his mindset seems to switch off at times and he fades out of the game for a while.
I always have trouble with players who rack up a large number of possessions but don't really impact a game because from watching todays match Brandon's effective disposals were way down. Looks like he has caught the Girgg syndrom

Front runner, not hard enough. Outside player.
No doubt he's outside, but that's ok as you need them too. His hardness is like his form, up and down. One minute he will bravely go back with the flight, next he will pull out of a 50-50 contest. Playing for Richmond has allowed him to develop some bad habits like lazy kicks that miss targets and dropping marks that are sitters. His one way running is another habit he been allowed to develop.

My fear is that because they are young they are cut too much slack and then once this habits are set, there is no turning back.

Big fan of him last year, and was genuinely expecting him to step into the top 50 or so players this season , but I fear he is starting to get 'Richmonised'. :-[

Good kid just having a bad run. Great hands and usually finishes well too.
Least of our worries

Of all the spuds we still have running around, we are dropping Ellis...
As others have said, he's picked up some bad habits. Only runs one way, defensively poor, and has jibbed a few. A wake-up call won't hurt him.

It seems that he never goes with his first instinct, is second guessing himself all the time. I think whatever the game plan is, he doesn't know how to implement it and his confidence has fallen away. He has been very, very ordinary this year. (I can see him going to Sydney or port and being an absolute star - we just don't seem to develop our young guys and this has been the case for far too many years.

Brad Hill - suspect player, developed into a gun.

At Richmond he would still be a fringe player

Ellis is my pet peeve this year and last night he did it again. LOTS of the ball does very little with it. its like he is working on fantasy points.

We have side full of pinpoint 60m kicks and NO ONE KICKS FURTHER THAN 35!!! Clearly team instructions. Sack the coach, fool.

His kicking was poor. His decision making was poor. He and Conca showed such promise, but have gone backwards this year. I understand Conca has not had a great run with fitness but he makes too many mistakes. Hopefully it's temporary and when the new coach comes in they can get back on track.
