Totally agree. I've been watching this guy all year and he's gone backwards. A total and utter frontrunner! He's still young enough to do something about but they must concentrate on him now. He would typically be a good player in a good team that's winning more ball than it's losing but those type of players tend to let you down when the going gets tough. He needs to harden up and they should make him tag for the rest of the year to get him working on the defensive side of his game.casper68 said:Brandon l watched you today sprint forward when we had the ball and jog back when Melbourne had the ball . AstuteTiger said:I do like Ellis, think he will be a gem but one thing i have noticed is his tackles rarely stick, opposing player easily breaks ellis's tackles. Needs to tackle with some ferocity and also hit the contest harder when required, has improved that area of his game but needs to step it up another notch....
Juffaricho said:Last year he showed he was a good enough player to hurt at this level when given space. Now he is in the "average player when sat on" category.
zippadeee said:This is how this club is Hardwick makes an example out of him, but every week we pay to watch duds like Houli I and Grigg & Hampson & grimes & Chaplin & Edwards & Morris.
This kid can play, he is a finisher. Half forward, part time midfielder
Move him back to HB then JR?Juffaricho said:The guy has not gone backwards. Opposition teams just now know that if you leave him alone he can hurt you so they don't give him much space anymore. Last year he showed he was a good enough player to hurt at this level when given space. Now he is in the "average player when sat on" category. I expect him to stay in that category for a while as I do not rate his contested work at all and that is how a larger percentage of his possies will be now - especially as he lacks acceleration to get uncontested ball when being marked.

Leysy Days said:Yeah, his contested work, especially below his knees is sub-standard Juffa. Thats why calls that he can become a midfielder are off the mark ILHO.
I agree and Chaplin should not be saved from the axe just because Astbury got injured.AstuteTiger said:Agree with the above except Grimes, Dylan can play, uses it well, is good in the air and can play an offensive and defensive role when needed, id rather have Rance, Astbury, Grimes and hopefully Darrou being promoted in the back half than Chaplin....
