Brandon Ellis

Those couple of cracking goals from the boundary line earlier in the season I thought would have ignited his season, yet it seems he is struggling to flick the switch.
I am not too worried about Ellis as I reckon he's got plenty of fine footy attributes and is going to be a wonderful player for the Tigers.

Not using (or not in a position to use) his decent tank. Play him hard for almost 3 quarters and then sub him off if spent. Just not giving us as much run and carry as we have seen in years 1 and 2.

One of I'd say 8-10 players who are under performing. Be nice if they all lift together on Sunday :)

Wouldn't that just be fantastic, T-Pops.
Given the past couple of matches against the Hawks I do have a small element of optimism about the possibility of a win, but the reality is that on current form the Hawks are far too dynamic and competitive for the Tigers.

Being all of twenty Brandon is not quite ready for the captaincy. He has a few failures. But he keeps running. (Anybody else got that vice?)

How would it be if the whole team made blues then ran? And could kick?

At the same age Maxfield was our last failure of this proportion.

Brandon l watched you today sprint forward when we had the ball and jog back when Melbourne had the ball . Not good enough by a long way .

Least of our problems, put him in Collingwood and you would see how good he is

Totally agree. I've been watching this guy all year and he's gone backwards. A total and utter frontrunner! He's still young enough to do something about but they must concentrate on him now. He would typically be a good player in a good team that's winning more ball than it's losing but those type of players tend to let you down when the going gets tough. He needs to harden up and they should make him tag for the rest of the year to get him working on the defensive side of his game.
If you think this is harsh, watch him for long periods of time, especially when we haven't got the ball, the guy absolutely jogs and fills useless space.

I do like Ellis, think he will be a gem but one thing i have noticed is his tackles rarely stick, opposing player easily breaks ellis's tackles. Needs to tackle with some ferocity and also hit the contest harder when required, has improved that area of his game but needs to step it up another notch....

This is how *smile* this club is Hardwick makes an example out of him, but every week we pay to watch duds like Houli I and Grigg & Hampson & grimes & Chaplin & Edwards & Morris.
This kid can play, he is a finisher. Half forward, part time midfielder

Big fan, but agree with posters above that he does look like he's going through the motions at the moment; very half hearted. Very disappointing - was really expecting this to be his season where he might climb into the games top 50.

Early days though. Would be one to benefit from a change in coach and gamestyle.

The guy has not gone backwards. Opposition teams just now know that if you leave him alone he can hurt you so they don't give him much space anymore. Last year he showed he was a good enough player to hurt at this level when given space. Now he is in the "average player when sat on" category. I expect him to stay in that category for a while as I do not rate his contested work at all and that is how a larger percentage of his possies will be now - especially as he lacks acceleration to get uncontested ball when being marked.

He's not the only one.

Agree with the above except Grimes, Dylan can play, uses it well, is good in the air and can play an offensive and defensive role when needed, id rather have Rance, Astbury, Grimes and hopefully Darrou being promoted in the back half than Chaplin....

Move him back to HB then JR?

Yeah, his contested work, especially below his knees is sub-standard Juffa. Thats why calls that he can become a midfielder are off the mark ILHO.

Agree. Just has a habit of lifting his head before he has control. There was a great example in the first quarter (?) when we broke down across half forward as his hands were not clean enough. On the other hand Flossy is wonderful in close. If we could put Dea and Grimes in our back line and release Nick into the midfield...

I agree and Chaplin should not be saved from the axe just because Astbury got injured.
