Brandon Ellis

Brandon is a seriously good footballer. he seems to be quite versatile...play him forward, in the middle, running off the half back.... I loved his game today :clap :clap :clap

Cannon of a leg. May be a better and longer kick on the run then Martin.

A finisher. September will suit him.

How far was that roosted goal? I was on the phone in the other room when he kicked it, looked like a speared 60m, can't have been though

Yep he kicked it 65m with ease. Knew he would, our best kick. Deadly within scoring range.

If I was the opposition is be tagging him every week. Gives us so much clean ball on the outside. Struggled last week with attention but that's only normal in his second year. He's took the step up to being worthy of a tag and same with Martin. Next step up to an elite footballer is beating it over the next few years. They will come.

Yep Barnzy - one of the commentators said that he'll likely get a tag in the finals.

2-3 years time will be in the best 3 at the club. Awesome prospect

How many can we fit into the best 3 is the real question.

Put it this way, if he keeps coming along like he is and doesn't meet Zips prediction, we might well have an 11th flag hanging down at the club.

Ellis is almost untaggable, his tank is huge and he will run rings around the opposition.

It went 60 easy Snakey; probably even further. Sailed through like a missile.

What about the goal on the outside of the boot at the end of the 2nd quarter? All class.

the development of this kid in his 2nd year is unbelievable.

thought he would a good player for us but im starting to think he could be a bit better than good.

maybe even elite... fingers crossed

Am shocked by his improvement, even since April when he was starting as the sub. Already a force to be reckoned with in just his second year.

I think Brandon's picked up a yard of pace. Definitely looks quicker than last year. Aside from his run and skill he's a key part of building a successful club culture. Such a terrific kid to have around a footy club.

That was what it looked like, thought I was seeing things, commentators didn't seem to make a big deal out of it. It was amazing how low trajectory it was, wow.

That 2nd Q goal was a bloody ripper. The instant he kicked it I thought he was lairising, more fool me.

On the tagging thing, they can't tag everyone

Was at the game and close to the boundary on the outer wing. Watched Ellis go for a run, in front of me. I looked back at the GWS boy to see if he was making an impression - none whatsoever. Damn Ellis moves smoothly and through himself, quite a low centre of gravity. Seemingly, no up and down style movement at all.

Will be the best. Trying to think of a current / recent gun that he resembles to get a gauge on where he can get to.
Next stage will be copping a tag week by week but will rise above all that.

He is a beauty no doubt.

Any good coach during the finals will have someone sit on him. He is a massive driving force for us. Next step for him is to overcome a tag.

What was it again pick 14 for effectively Ellis and Morris. Master stroke by Blair.

Just saw that goal on the replay, wasn't seeing things, speared it low and fast from 60, wow. Thats a weapon.

It's been a funny season, in that this time last year our destiny was built on Lids, Cotch, Martin. I feel like we are approaching a point where you would really struggle to pick our best three from a group of 6 or 8, inc. Ellis, Conca, Vlastuin, Jacko, White (at a little stretch). What was a strong core with not much depth has expanded into a broad group of even talent. To win a premiership, we probably need the likes of Cotchin to go to the next level, but at least our entire season doesn't rest on the fitness of just a couple of players - which is nice.

Almost BH, unfortunately he got shut down against the Blooze after his scintillating 1st qtr, however I'm firmly of the opinion that the coaches can actually teach and improve our player's skill set. With that in mind I see absolutely no reason why Brandon won't learn to break that tag that is inevitably coming his way. He has definitely gone up a notch, but in saying that, most of our players have hence why we're sitting on 14 wins and playing finals for the first time in more than a decade.

Good times are ahead.
