Jarred McVeigh......

Interesting comparison Scoop, McVeigh was also an elite long distance runner as a junior and actually started life in the midfield as a tagger. It's pertinent in McVeigh's case that it took 5 years to establish himself as a goalkicking midfielder, the goalkicking aspect being something which Ellis obviously needs to work on.

Interesting to note that McVeigh kicked 32 goals in his B&F season in 2008, numbers such as these won't be a walk in the park.

Yes please.

Probably leysy's favourite non-tiger footballer.

Have long said on here he is possibly the most underrated player in the game. Wins his own ball, shuts down his opponent, is tough, stands up in big games and is a truly elite kick. In fact his footskills are some of best in the game ILHO.

Has been a star for a long time. His game in the GF was a monster.

If Brandon can get near McVeigh it will be massive. Think the Heath Shaw comparison is closer to the mark for leysy, which would be an excellent result.

Agree that McVeigh is massively underrated. Very quiet achiever.
Swannies have plenty who'd have a much higher profile in the traditional football states.

My prediction for most improved this season at the club.

Fingers crossed.

Plays like he has already played 100 games. So smart and composed.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Great kid with big career ahead but tonight was truly horrible. Everything turned to rubbish

Expected more, thought he had a great pre-season and his form leading in was solid.

Me too, looked a little rattled by the event.

A game like that is worth 10 normal games. Not often you get to play in front of 80k.

Yep, had a shocker. Coughed it up all night. Lost every 1 on 1. Should have been subbed at half time, or at least halfway through the third

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Looked out of sorts. Maybe a spell in the 2's for Petterd or Vlastuin on the cards. He's the only one I'd consider dropping

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Give the kid a break - he was deliberately targeted and smashed at every opportunity in the 1st half.

I love him, but he was a liability. He'll be ok long term.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

His preseason form wasn't an apparition.

He'll bounce back.

I cannot see Dimma dropping him after one game unless he is injured.

Agree.

Ellis stays.
