Just watched the replay of the game and I noticed that in the first few minutes Ellis committed two real blunders. Firstly he gave away a 50 meter penalty and the a couple of minutes later he got caught red handed holding the ball by betts, resulting in their second goal. I reckon as a young kid that would be enough to wreck his confidence for the rest of the nightand explain what was probably the worst game he has played in his short career. I doubt that he will be dropped, but it wouldn't bother me if he did. He'll bounce back.

Instead of bagging him, we should patting him on the back. That moment of him getting caught with the ball, caused one of the competitions most dangerous forwards to bust a jaw, causing him to have an off night.
Betts had 3 touches to half time.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Not bagging him, just trying to explain why he might have had an off night. Nothing worse than getting caught holding the ball when you play in the backline.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Needs a big game the kid. I like him but he stunk it up Thursday. With guys like grimes, knights, Vlastuin, white etc lining up for a game there isn't much room for poor games/inconsistency this season.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Ellis was visibly disappointed to be subbed off. There are higher expectations of him this year and we improved on the corresponding game of last year by 50 points. Ellis made a few blunders but they are quite understandable and forgivable. He will learn from those and come back a better player. He also did some pretty good work at stages also.

For whatever Ellis did wrong let's remember Murphy missed a vital tackle that looked much worse than anything Ellis did. Other prominent players made awful Blues also. Judd included.

I thought Judd was a standout for the Blues, could be in for a big year if Murphy cops the tags.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Kade Simpson, who is by no means a world beater, can have some pretty busy games and is easily a top ten player for the filth. Brandon wasn't bad on him. Just got lost a few times, dropped his head a bit and lost his confidence with the ball.

Ellis did a pretty fair job on Simpson. Not so many allowances from the coach in his second year. Fair enough.

Just a shame the young bloke didn't have the experience to sneak forward and dob one to get the game back on his terms.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Massive turnaround.

Attacked every contest like a mad man. His contest with Nick Riewoldt was pure courage and done with conviction. Nothing half hearted. Holds his spot for sure.

Good sign of the culture at the club.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

redemption is a beautiful thing to watch.

one to rival shawshank.

he'll be lauded by the club tonight and for good reason.

so important in the last.

His great work above and Conca's work in the last was match winning.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Ellis had a big impact in the last quarter. Took some good marks and put pressure on the opposition. Showed he has come back from his poor game last week.

Agreed. Took that very important mark in defence at a crucial part of the game too.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Yeah. Worked. 19yo. Hmmmm....

Brandon? Future VC.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

His 20 minutes were fantastic. Put his body on the line countless times. That intercept against riewolt was match winning.
I hope he gets another full game and plays with that hunger.

Just proves that players are actually scared of losing there position in the side...
Now super coach needs to have a good look at Grigg

Do you call DH "super coach" because you're happy with the direction he's taking us in or is it said in a derogatory way?

rosy.
His ok, his better then the last 5,
I think Chocco has had more influence on the players in 6 months then super coach in 3+ years.
Struggle's with match ups, hasn't come up with a style to enter our 50, icing the clock etc.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

It's hard to believe that's a 19 yo body. He was great when he came on. He won't be sub next week. We could use his hardness against the Dogs.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

The club got the use of the sub right this week. Ellis was the right player at the right time in the game to bring on.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Was good to see him fight back after a poor game last week.

The likes of he and Conca are the keys to us improving to one day be contenders
