Yes he had a great first year, and is going to be a very good player us.
The best first year i've seen at the Tigers for a long time is Dusty's first year, 420 odd possessions, 6 brownlow votes and a truck load of dont argues!!

I won't argue with that. Not to mention the 60 metre spear passes hitting his target with ultimate precision on many occasions. I remember talking about how this kid has had the best first season since Judd.

I was wrapped to hear that Brandon rang Hardwick half way through last season wanting to know "how he can get better". We've got a great young kid in Brandon, i reckon he will be in the leadership group before too long.

He showed immediate improvement after that. Wasn't that when he started consistently clicking over 20 possies per game and got the rising star nomination...

Conca doesn't get the credit he deserves IMO. I reckon the squirrel is going to be one of the leagues A grade mids sooner rather than later.

He's still got a lot of work to do but i'm a pretty big fan of his also. Went to the Brissy game last year and my Tiger buddies didn't really rate him, changed their minds by the end of the match :)

It's great to hear that he has come back in good shape for the pre-season, i'm hoping for big things from Dusty next season.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Right now no opposition team cared about him. If he does improve and begins to consistently "set up play" then it will be interesting to see how he goes with a bit of attention on him. I like the kid a lot but am not expecting him to be a playmaker - more of a real reliable role player who just does the team things well and keeps his opponent quiet.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Players who are prepared to work hard to improve their game normally go a long way in the AFL. Brandon Ellis has showed he is prepared to do this and the pre season will do wonders for him. I also think he will have a big impact in 2013 and opposition teams should look out for him, he is very underrated.

Yeah well if his head's right then he'll be great. He was still very good last season but we expect so much from him, his kicking was off a bit that's all.

Why did he bother ringing? He would see him pretty much everyday at training.
Lots of stuff going on at training with a heap of people roaming around. Plenty of new people at any place of employment would be a bit reluctant to go eyeball to eyeball with the boss, so probably simply the most comfortable way to do things would be to have a private chat over the phone.
Kids live on the bloody things nowadays, they can hide in their caves for a month n hardly even come out for air as long as they've got a phone or tablet thingummyjig.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

im expecting a big year from eliiss, conca and dust this year...we will go along way toward playing finals if these three take the next step

Throw in a working T.V. and another step from the Griff n Tigerland will start pumpin late in the season.

Astbury will likely show something and by the sounds of it the mature age guys are pretty keen to get in amongst it also.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I thought his first year was solid. I am hoping he will take the next step but, apologies for sitting on the fence, not convinced he will be a star. Certainly think he was a very good get, solid footballer, for a pick 15.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

After a bright start Ellis really struggled in the last 3rd of 12. I'm thrilled that he's working on his endurance. Think he'll be a solid player for us.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Ellis looks like a really astute selection at draft pick 15. Not sure he will become elite, but arguably we already have a number of A graders: Cotchin, Deledio, Riewaldt, Maric, Martin (in time). What we need is more depth, and this is where Conca, Ellis and hopefully Vlastuin will become critical to sustained success.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

The safe bet drafting approach is an interesting one I reckon, and could well pay off.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

In his interview on 'Talking Tigers' Ellis mentions that he will be taking over from Newman on the half back, with Newman to push more into the midfield.

He said his favourite spot is half back/wing where he can run all day. He might make a move into the midfield down the track but now he is happy about the role the coaches have outlined for him.

My sentiments exactly.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Ellis is very strong overhead. We'll see more of that with him on a HBF. A piece of the pre-season puzzle is in place.
