Just watched the stk rich game from last year again. Geez this kid is good. Going to be something! My tip for most improved this year.

That fourth qtr clutch goal for a 10 game player
His winning the time trial this year
His consistent form all year
4 games over 20 pozzies

I'm excited about this kids future

Yeah I just watched that game last week and Brandon was excellent! Hits his targets and is cool under pressure. He and Vickory will be big improvers this season. Comparisons with Heath Shaw, and rightly so ;)

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

MY BOY WILL BE A FOOTBALLER!!!!!

B.Ellis will make the leap to onballer. No doubt. Too fit, too smart with the ball. Besides the Chimp, Brandon has the cleanest hands at the RFC in tight. Hits his hands then gone. Automatic. And to someone in a better spot.

Only played 68% of games last year, hopefully push that number to 78% with more time in the midfield. 400 touches for the year and average two clearances and two tackles a game would be a great year.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

His kicking lacks a bit of penetration and he's a tiny bit slow off the mark. That's about all I can fault about him.

Leysy was a little circumspect at draft time with Brandon, but he lacks nothing for kicking depth. Its one of his strengths for leysy.

Whilst not an effusive as Scoop about his hands, you do have to love the way he is going to get everything out of himself. 100% committed to succeed.

That latest training video he looked real quick! I hope he has added a yard of pace in the pre season.

Interesting you say that, because just from watching him this year its the one thing I query about him, is he clean enough inside? As a subset of that query, is he seems to get a lot of kicks smothered because he takes a big wind up. I'm not particularly worried, but just things he needs to work on

A first 18 Richmond mid or flanker generally plays 80%+ game time, so 78% seems a very reasonable ambition. Conca played 77% last year and had an interrupted preseason.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

He has the drive to get the best out of himself. Big, big plus, if he has any shortcomings you can bet he'll leave no stone unturned to improve.

Agree about his kicking. The issue with Brandon last year was that he got caught ut with the pace of the game, and his own oace at times and was forced to kick hurriedly and on his left a lot. This may have given the illusion of lack of depth with his kicking.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Properly the best, all round 1st year by a junior I've seen in years.
this kid will be a class act by 23-24,

Yes he had a great first year, and is going to be a very good player us.
The best first year i've seen at the Tigers for a long time is Dusty's first year, 420 odd possessions, 6 brownlow votes and a truck load of dont argues!!

or Chimp was winning games in his first year, Lids was also a very solid first year player. But if you exclude the minor exceptions of Chimp, Lids and Dusty then Ellis has been our best 1st year player of recent years.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Conca doesn't get the credit he deserves IMO. I reckon the squirrel is going to be one of the leagues A grade mids sooner rather than later.

Yes Chimp was very good but didn't play until round 8. Lids was very good also, but to me Dusty's first year is as good as any player that i have seen, including Chris Judd imo.

I think you have a good point, I was more commenting on the idea that Ellis was better that any of those guys. To me all three of them had better first years.

I was wrapped to hear that Brandon rang Hardwick half way through last season wanting to know "how he can get better". We've got a great young kid in Brandon, i reckon he will be in the leadership group before too long.

Why did he bother ringing? He would see him pretty much everyday at training.
