Brandon Ellis

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Can't complain with his first season. Did everything asked of him and more.

I agree with leysy re pace, but if he can build a big tank it shouldn't be a massive issue. Solid player.

He's already got a big tank, his endurance was elite at the draft camp and would probably place him in the top 5 at the club.

So you think he can already run out games like fully seasoned AFL players?

It's not so much running out games but running out an entire season. Ellis showed an excellent ability to run out games in the early part of the season, the challenge will be to maintain a high level of running ability whilst carrying a few niggles here and there. He's one solid unit so I've got little doubt he'll cope in the longrun, although this year would have been a bit of a wake-up call when it comes to intensity and physicality.

In terms of a 200+ game defender/mid that'd be a good thing.

Yeah I would take that.
If Brandon can become a reliable footsoldier with a career like Newie's (with the inclusion of premierships ;D) then we'll have done well.
Beyond that would be terrific.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Pretty moving video on Roar Vision.

Hasn't had it easy that's for sure.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Got terrific work ethic. Very confident he will make it as a fine player for just this one reason.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

He will benefit from a good pre season behind him. Did anyone else notice he tended to bomb the ball up in the air when he was under pressure late in the season?

He has been a really good pick up for Richmond though this year.

Totally agree that another AFL pre-season will make a big difference to a player that already has shown that he had more stamina than 90% of our first year recruits over the last decade.

I have seen more promise in Ellis than almost all the other players we have recruited in recent times, we need to recruit others as good as him this year to just stay at our current level in 2013.

Yeah I'm gonna back Brandon in. Pretty sure the Swans would like to have him.

very good with one on one marking. showed heaps in one particular game against north. Plenty of pressure, he marked three in a row in tight circumstances. He's a beauty.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

He's a Scoop fav but even I wouldn't throw the Diesel out there!!

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Greg Ellis Williams kicking to Wayne Griffiths Carey. Not sure how we won't wrap up the next 5 flags at least.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I've said it before but he reminds me of a young Paul Chapman, when he had hair and wasn't yet a brick outhouse. Chapman developed A LOT and it took him several years to get there. Don't think Brandon will ever be the goal kicker that Chapman has been but physically that's who I think of.
