disagree leysy. ellis has all the tools, great hands, feet, composure smarts and a tank. may lack a yard in pace but plenty lacking this have won b&f's. experience and pre-seasons will give him the hardness, but has the skill set to make a great midfielder imo.

that goal in the last was perfectly executed for someone so young. ellis and conca give us some proper midfield depth.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Ellis composure under pressure for a 18 year old playing his first season is bloody impressive.

Well done Brandon. :clap

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I'm a fan. Plays like a 150 gamer.

He played most of the game on the open wing and hbf. Pace is not a problem.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Massive high pressure goal he scored. So much time to think, over think, stall, panic and screw up but instead he just slotted it through like a 150 gamer.

I think that was the moment I woke the kids with my shouting

Better than leysy thought he'd be. Humble pie.
Inked in Lavvy. Michael Tuck never won a B&F, just 7 flags. That'll do Brandon.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Keep hearing about his lack of pace but must say he's speed has improved especially in the last month there there was a piece of play in the 3rd qtr, half back flank, and he broke away at full pelt had a bounce etc noticed that a few times where he just put the foot down...

I dont panic when he's got the ball in his hands sublime user of the ball either by foot or hand.....

i agree. pace doesnt seem to be a problem, maybe not Lids fast but he seems quick enough.

and i agree with most here. he is very composed, just a good footballer who will hopefully get better and better.

I noticed that as well. He ended up breaking well clear of that contest.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I think the knock on him is his acceleration off the mark, not his top line speed.

His good footy smarts help make the initial lack of speed a non factor most times.

well he knocked that off the head last night, off the mark he broke away with absolute speed and left a saints player in his wake did that a few times

That was THE moment.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Like wathching this bloke play but have not really looked hard at him...... he seems a very solid build or is it just the Tv. If he is as strong as he looks I guess he will make a good midfield down the track.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Very good kid, we have a good group coming through together
Grimes, Batchelor, Helibig, Conca & griffo

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Ellis' sealing goal has been the highlight of the season for me so far - it was amazing!

He made a couple of mistakes early including an out of bounds shot for goal but he was otherwise impressive and finished the game very nicely.

Love the young blokes shining on the big stage and nothing seems to faze young Ellis.

We have done very well to obtain both Ellis and Morris with pick 14 essentially and Maric for 37. Nailing these deals/picks are a big reason for our success this year.

A very well done to the recruiting staff.

Thats one happy lad.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

For an 18 year old he is not skinny runt. Just wait until he gets a few more pre-seasons under his belt.

The first time I seen him I remember him walking the boundary for a breather during the round 1 game and I thought geez he's reasonably filled out for a 18yo.
