did anyone else see ellis try to sheperd houli and run at chapman and bump him? definetly shows signs of toughness for an 18 year old to bump a solid chapman

This simple act brought a great big smile to my face at the weekend.

Something would be majorly wrong if Dea or Morris play rd 1 in front of this kid, no doubt this boy has all the tools, unlike the others, however Morris or Dea maybe better at putting Betts into the 4 th row

think both morris and ellis will play RD 1.....morris to come in for helbig, morris has the cat like reflexes and speed to go with garlett or betts, dont think helbig has nor does Dea...

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I'd put Ellis on Betts and tell him if you tackle him leave a shovel behind out of courtesy.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

We'd be crazy to put Ellis on Betts or Garlett this early in his career ILO.

Cant see it happening.

Biggest problem the Tigers have had with the likes of Betts and Garlett is not just having strength and pace to cover them but most importantly discipline and footy smarts, very very clever slippery cats are Betts and Garlett and i doubt that Matt Dea has the footy smarts to play on these guys.

Does Morris, is another question, thats why Conca played in the BP last year they didnt have anyone else, Batchelor too big and tad slow for these types Newman too unnacountable and better off up the ground. Maybe Houli will get one of them.

Or simply just keep the footy up the other end moreso than down their end. ;D

Agree. Massive difference from a low energy game against Geelong Reserves to manic Rd. 1 on elite forwards. Kids done everything right but Morris was watched, drafted and has been trained up for that role. I'll be stunned if they throw Ellis into that situation. Maybe bench spot is there for him but if there are no injuries this week I have him just missing out.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Loved the play in the second on Saturday, swooped on the ball between 2 cats, lovely blind turn between them, dished off then ran to block, awesome

Didn't Dimma give Reecey the Concareter a long hard look at yapper Milne last year? No harm in showing a kid just how much work he needs to get done to find the level required to become elite. If it's done in a proper teaching and development context there's nothing wrong with a serious reality check.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

& Reecey got towelled up. The matchup cost us the win.

Listening to the words coming from Dimma dont think he is in the frame of mind to do that, do you?

Probably not, got a feeling Dimma and the boys are fairly serious about a red hot crack at finals this year. Won't be to much fancy positional work going on.
So when do you make the big move over to Pordadalaide Leysy? Big step up in the offield career ;D

Nor can I, Morris was specifically recruited for these types of players and there's no reason why he won't start there.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Morris or Dea on Betts.

I'd prefer Morris but if Dea is as good as we keep hearing then he should also be capable.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

you can only have one lock down defender - it will most likely be morris on betts. one from newman, batchelor houli or ellis will have to mind garlett.

I would think only Newman would come close to keeping up with him. That's the advantage of Morris. If Betts is quiet and Garlett is showing everyone a clean heals we can actually swap a player onto him who has the natural speed to keep up.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

After initially being unimpressed, I like Garlett a lot. Too early to hand out 'elite', but he's more consistent than most in the role he plays.

There is another Garlett coming through the system at the moment. Dayle. Been tagged with a few issues recently. But the same person who told me that Jack Darling would be a star and the Eagles would do everything possible to make sure he was on the board at their pick, is telling me that the the Eagles and Dockers are pulling the same stunts with Dayle.

Dayle has apparently been dropped out of the junior squad he was in. They mentioned it on SEN the other night in the context of the recent discussions about drafting aboriginal players. Is that the games they are playing? Pretty poor if thats the case.
