Brandon Ellis

Easy to have effective disposals when handballing to a guy 1 metre away and then asking for it back while the other bloke cops the tackle. Has become soft and nothing more than a seagull.

About this time last year, he seemed to be strutting around with a bit of a sense of entitlement, and didn't seem to be working too hard.
Then something switched for him, and he was much better in the second half of the year. Needs to do this again.

Brandon had the developer's role in the team. He was given the young star's role, covered by team mates. And he justified that with huge numbers and excellent use. He played Brent Stanton (but much better).

Not any more. McIntosh gets that gig now. Good.

Ellis is getting a lot more heat but thankfully he's giving some too. He's playing more inside. His tackling and chasing have improved immensely but you won't see the big possession counts for a while. He's got a senior role now and he's going ok. We will improve as he does.

His first move when he gets the ball is to look sideways and backwards.
He runs in circles not going anywhere.

he is looking for his hairdresser

Sure, but I was just answering someone's question about how effective were his disposals and the fact is he had 2nd most on the night. Although he did also have a fairly high kick to handball ratio. I agree with a poster that he tends to often look sideways and backwards before looking forwards. Was really bad at this a couple of years ago but had worked to get it out of his game but seems to have reverted back into this mode. I guess that's what happens when you maybe aren't playing your best and feeling the pressure.

Lol people jump off quickly it seems.

Don't they ? Our best outside link, in fact only and because at 21 he's not the complete package people want role changes. How about we get him working in the role we need? Don't we need more run in the midfield not less?

Yeah, we need two more of his type. Absolutely needs to work harder without the ball but a key to the next decade.

Correct. This bloke is an important part of our future.
It's very easy to extrapolate everything from a small sample size.
His graph has an overall general rise from when he started with little ups and downs along the way. But the trend is still up for mine.

Haven't jumped off Brandon at all, he's one of our better players as I said only just last week despite a moderate start to the year.
I do think however he'd be suited to spending some time down back as a link up player in defence. No doubt we need plenty more run down there.
Morris is not the answer and Brandon spent plenty of time as a defender in his junior days. Might just freshen him up a bit and solve a problem.

(You know I'm desperate when I resort to statistics. ;D)

Right, you lot. You know that blond blur Yorick Hunt who chases down players from range and tackles them?

You're not watching closely enough. It's Ellis. The bloke has improved 1000% defensively. He's grown up. He is blue collar.

Tackles 2012-4 - 36, 45, 56. This year 23 so far. 7, 4, 5, 7. What those stats don't tell you is how many metres he's made up to lay some of them. He's gone quantum. He chases and hard. It's happened. He works for a living.

The next thing I'd like to see him work on is kicking the goal. For now I'll give ya 7/2 each way when he's shooting. (T&Cs apply.)

Tracking towards 130 tackles for the year Dyer'ere, time to tell the kid to stop bludgin n get first to the pill instead of chasin arse. If only the rest of the team were working as well as Brandon, we wouldn't have much to complain about.

I thought the chases were Hunt when I was watching, TM. It might as well have been me on the deck when I realised it was him. Right now he's playing a very different game.

I'd cop 100 tackles and 20 goals 5, brother.
