I'm A huge wrap for Ellis, think he's going to be a really good player for a decade.

He simply doesn't run as hard when we don't have the ball. Right now is a glamour footballer, will outrun 90% of players when he can get a touch and will run for multiple efforts in a chain.

But jogs the other way, shuffles, always looking to go again the other way. I hate this.

He doesn't do the hard defensive stuff. He can be real bludger and until he gets that out of his game he won't go to the next level.

Prime case was that putrid kick from Batchelor across half back where he missed both Vlastuin and Ellis. Yes the kick should have hit one of the targets; it was *smile*. But it didn't and Ellis had the chance to lay a clean block for Vlastuin so he could collect the bouncing ball and be away. Instead Ellis bludges and skulks off for an easy handball. Vlastuin gets a shocking bounce, the Dogs player cleans up and a turnover goal results.

Shocking football by both Batchelor and Ellis and typical of how we played all day. Lazy, soft, unaccountable footy.

Great post

If it bounced right for Vlas then we were away as Ellis would have had a paddock. Like many other instances during the game it went their way

No Batchelor's kick missed the target on a fine, sunny day. It was as others put so eloquently '*smile*'.

Ellis hasn't started the season well but he's still one of our better players.

Would it be worth playing Ellis in the role of defensive forward? Or could that be an ugly experiment?
Just thinking that he has some footy smarts, knows how to kick a goal and when he's focused he is a team contributor.

Just excuses. It wasn't the bounce, it wasn't because Ellis misjudged the situation. Quite simply with two players on their own on the other side of the ground you don't miss them by 10 metres (and behind them). We should have never allowed this situation to occur. You create your own luck. Way too many turnovers by the Tigers as evidenced by the Bulldogs kicking a massive 5 goals from the qoal square yesterday.

And wasn't that yesterday in a nutshell.

Spot on.

Any word on his injury , he was interviewed on the news tonight coming out of the imaging clinic I only caught the end of the interview but he did say we only have a six day break so he may struggle to get up .

Still think Ellis needs to work on his finishing skills. The last couple of weeks he has not delivered when having shots on goal. And I think this has been his problem the last couple of years. Being a bit harsh on him as I want to see him become elite.

Interesting stat on the AFL's Pravda-esque site. Brando has played 23 consecutive games in which he has jagged 20 or more touches. Fifth on the AFL's list with Pendles (58), Priddis, Treloar and J.Lewis in front of him. Good company.

I think thats the role hes been playing, never been a massive tackler but as long as the receiver hurts opposition it doesnt matter as much... Needs to get better this year to back up last 2 very good years

How mAny effective?

2nd most effective disposals on the night. Only 1 clanger. To put that in perspective, 10 of our players had 4 or more clangers on the night. I had Ellis in top 3 players.
