Brandon Ellis

I just have feeling that Brando needs to have a big game tonight.

Looking for a couple of goals, for him to have a strong second half and announce himself ready to become elite.

Had a really quiet first quarter last night (2 possies?) but then went nuts for the rest of the game. Most pleasing was the 8 contested possessios and the 7 tackles for the game. It really was a great rounded effort and I thought he was one of the most instrumental players on the night. Unbelievable runner.

Did you get on?

Ellis in chains Brandon Ellis to lay 5 or more tackles

The fact that he worked himself into the game was a pleasing sign. Tagged hard early and just kept running and eventually along with howl was one of the catalysts of corridor football.

Huge running ability. And wheels and goes, takes off. Kicking was a lot better too, no dinky short stuff. Set for a big year, should improve on last year.

Game of 2 halves for Brandon for mine.
Found his 1st half very frustrating. Wasn't running hard enough and didn't back himself.
Too often skirting the packs and jogging between contests.
Also some of his dinky disposal was driving me spare.
Really improved as the game opened up and his opponents lost interest.
Overall I will be looking for a better game from him against the Dogs. He can play a lot better.

Really? I thought his first quarter he was well held, not because he wasn't trying but he was being tagged hard. Ended up with equal most marks, equal most tackles, 2nd most disposals (by 1), 3rd most contested possessions and a contested mark. Thought he was a major contributor in getting us back into the game with his hard running. I agree early on he was trying to play too cute but he was obviously advised of this and adjusted. I hope he does play better against Bulldogs because if he does it will be a ripper of a game.

I am marking him hard I admit but it's only because I rate him so highly.

It is a good sign when a player starts poorly but can work his way through into a good game. It's the consistency that's required to be an elite player.

That's the next step for Brandon. I reckon he'll get tagged heaps this year. We are light on for outside run and he is our number 1.

Break even in contested ball and stop Ellis. That would be my tactic against the Richmond mid field.

Yes i think he will too, he got tagged a bit last season but handled it quite well because of his tank. He was a big part in getting us back in the game against Carlton.

I'm not sure when I realised that when Hunt was chasing hard and laying awesome tackles he was usually Brandon. But it was a bloody pleasant surprise.

He looked like Brandon it was just that he acted like Yorick.

With a two-way game and quick recovery from quiet patches Brandon doesn't need much other improvement to become ee-leet.

very ordinary game today....has stepped back from our top 6 into our bottom 6. No chase, poor skills, no intensity...wasn't alone but should hang his head.

I'm A huge wrap for Ellis, think he's going to be a really good player for a decade.

He simply doesn't run as hard when we don't have the ball. Right now is a glamour footballer, will outrun 90% of players when he can get a touch and will run for multiple efforts in a chain.

But jogs the other way, shuffles, always looking to go again the other way. I hate this.

spot on. classic case of the believing his own publicity. I'm a fan but this won't wash. His strength is his ability to win hard balls, not necessarily in packs, but clean takes on the run, under pressure, contested marks around the ground, not today, going half arsed.
