Andrew 'Mini' McQualter

Don’t think I’ve seen Fly with a head set on while coaching from the bench. Does that mean Leppa is pulling the strings…?
McCrae needs to win this year other wise the mob will wipe that smirk straight off his face.
They weren't to happy losing to Carlton image what they would be like if they 6-0 6-0 out of the finals.

I don't know him, never met him.
but he was aggressive, he didn't mind the biff, he didn't take a step back and he is a Premiership player. And the word on the street is he has turned Ports midfield into a top 2 midfielder.
P.s it does help when you have Rossie Bulters and Pepper.

We need someone with No ties to the club, that can come in and make changes on what he sees.

Enright, Star footballer, Premiership player,
big game player

Not Grigg
Not Gia
Not Eade
Played a big part in Freo’s improvement last year by all reports.

He’s either a great coach or has the best PR team in the AFL. Port are very keen to keep him which says something.

I’m trusting Benny and the crew to pick the best person for the job. Who knows it could be a left field candidate that none of us armchair experts have even considered. We will know soon enough.

Unfortunately I’m not sure I trust the processes within the club anymore. Haven’t picked the best person for the job for quite some time now. Worrying trend.

I reckon the last couple of weeks may have put Mini behind the 8 ball.

The Aints will come hard for us on the dump again after we beat them last time, and get assisted by the umps again and will have King back of course.

Might be another forgettable one next week.

A belting at the hands of the Kochies in round 24 could be on the cards after the boys have checked out following our champs last home game farewell against the Kangas.

I'd be putting my house on Port beating us in the last round.

We need a coach to drive standards, and based on last night's efforts Mini is not the guy.

For a supposedly do-or-die game, and if the players had any aspirations to play finals, to dish that rubbish up was embarrassing. This is nothing to do with a poor list, poor skills or lack of A-graders. The sheer lack of effort, and allowing Footscray to just treat us as witches hats from the first bounce was deplorable. That coast-to-coast goal in the 1st quarter with Ugle-H receiving a handball in the goal-square epitomized the entire game. Was like a training drill.

One thing that has stuck with me since Mini has taken over is hearing some of the interviews from the players after the game. I recall at least 3 players interviewed in post-match interviews which have said something similar, ... along the lines, "Mini is not asking too much of us, or expecting much from us".

I understand as a new guy u need to put the runs on the board before u start lighting fires underneath the players, however there has got to be a base set of standards around effort to build your foundation on.

They hate losing to Carlton. I worked with a Collingwood supporter who rated the season a failure, even if they won the flag, if they lost to Carlton during the season. He didn’t really rate their 2 Premiership wins in 1990 and 2010, because they hadn’t beat Carlton in either of them. Like many older Pie supporters could not let the 1970 GF loss go.

It’s not a “fait accompli”.

I can sort of speak from experience from my current workplace.
Vacancy for our boss job came up and one of our likeable and competent colleagues got the job as opposed to an outsider.
Not much has changed and none of us have had that spike when you try and impress/gain the respect of the new person in charge. We just go about our business knowing our colleague knows our abilities.

Also it is very hard for him to change the wheel, when he was all aboard when he wasn’t the Boss. Only way to stamp himself is to have staff turnover and mould the new people.

With Gale staying on another year, and Balme knowing full well the importance of choosing our next coach given he was around when Tommy left I think Mini has little chance of getting the gig. Reckon,if he has applied Hinkley is the best prospect. He did apply the same time Dimma did I believe.

I wanted Mini to succeed but I now think it's better if we have a new start. The new coach can then make the harsh calls on some players.

Just watched Mini's post game interview and he definitely has a hard edge I haven't seen before when speaking, I now don't get the impression he is all smiles and cuddles behind close doors.

Minin is a big No from me.

Great guy. Great potential coach. but not at Richmond.
When you are friends with the players for 10 years then become the boss you lose some respect for the guy.
A new guy coming in will have instant respect as the BOSS.

Coming in as he has he could do little more than what he has done. Subtle changes in strategy and a few in selection.
Now bringing in youth, which I expect to continue. Knew what Dimma knew but what else could he have done?
He impresses as a hard worker and he
has respect.

Trust the process and hope he comes out on top.
