Andrew 'Mini' McQualter

Gets an F for Fail for tonights games
Was just as bad as the Brisbane and now Doggies game
Its better seeing this now then round 3 next year.
He was a NO when put in the vacant seat 9 weeks ago and its a massive NO after last night's efforts.
Carr or Enright no ties to the club

Might be hard getting Carr out of Port you will find

Neil Balme was right from the start.
Club needs a coach from outside RFC

I think mini is a good coach and apparently a ripper fella but IMO we need a complete reset and a break from Dimma.

It’s not going to matter who’s coach next year in terms of finals because we’re not making them. Or the year after that. This list is just not good enough. Too many holes.

To that end, maybe an external coach is the best option. They’ll maybe get a bit more time and supporter patience to introduce a new game plan etc. If we appoint Bantam McQualter everyone will be all over him about missing finals, Richmond needs a proper re-set, this is all Bantam’s fault blah blah blah.

Agree.

New coach, new assistants, new wave of players in starting 18 and new Captain (Bakes or Taranto)

All of these internal appointments haven’t seemed to have worked out too well for us. Strength and conditioning, development, recruiting all seem to have gone backwards and in each area we promoted from within rather than find the best person for the job.

It needs to stop and hopefully an external coaching appointment will open the eyes of some at the club who have not been able to see this for themselves.

I’m still not overly fussed who we go with , to hard to predict what can happen .

Whats funny is how many of us( me included somewhat) are saying “ we need change” intresting thought , considering Mini was part of one of our most successful eras.

Is better the devil you know ? We have 2 assitanants who have coached at the top level , is there any reason Truck or Teague couldn’t be our head coach ? I really have no clue how to judge Mini , he no doubt got the lads playing better, however has he handled game day situations well ? would another smart assistant form another successful team ?

Im leaning to a fresh start , however wrong choice either way puts us back to 1983 .

besides the coaching situation a mini clean out is the go I say

I hope we have a chat to former star back man Troy Chaplin

I understand the club wanting to promote from within for stabilities sake and maybe a bit for the sake of the soft cap, but it should never be done at the expense of appointing a better candidate.

I'm not saying that is what we have done with any of our appointments just pointing out that stability for stabilities sake is just as bad as appointing the wrong candidate from outside the club.

We’ve tried to do the right thing by looking after those within however that hasn’t worked. You need to cast the net far and wide and get the best available talent out there.

That's not true ,assistant or Richmond senior position on double the money, come on .
You might find he is “ pulling the strings “ at Port
Ken Hinkley on bench with no head set on
How does he coach from there ?

Yeah, but is he happy being the invisible coach???

Ego drives us all especially so in the AFL. I can't see too many people in the AFL agreeing to: "Listen you're going to be the senior coach but nobody can know about it. Somebody else will get all the credit for your work, someone else will lift the cup if we win the flag and if you do a good job someone else will get a contract extension BUT you'll be doing all the work."

Whos going to sign up for that???

just watched Minis presser and he gets points for that
batted away amateur questions with ease and was direct about us getting smashed in that first Q

he may not get the coaches gig, but he handles himself and the club well

He does.

Agreed…on a side note why has Carr got such big wraps?
I don't know him, never met him.
but he was aggressive, he didn't mind the biff, he didn't take a step back and he is a Premiership player. And the word on the street is he has turned Ports midfield into a top 2 midfielder.
P.s it does help when you have Rossie Bulters and Pepper.

We need someone with No ties to the club, that can come in and make changes on what he sees.

Enright, Star footballer, Premiership player,
big game player

Not Grigg
Not Gia
Not Eade

Don’t think I’ve seen Fly with a head set on while coaching from the bench. Does that mean Leppa is pulling the strings…?
