Selecting Cumberland might have meant that he didn't have to move Balta forward.
Neither Lever or May had much impact, and we kicked 15 goals. I dont reckon our forward line did much wrong today.
Our normally strong defence was awful, starting with Balta. (&Grimes).
Maybe not, but he might have kicked a couple of goals meaning that the move of Balta forward might not have been required.
He hurt himself at selection persevering with Miller & Mansell instead of Ryan & Cumberland. Dead set stupid!
In game, he was too slow to address backline woes including swapping Miller down back for Balta much earlier. To think Petty and Van Rooyan kicked 10 between them - pathetic.
Mansell or Pickett should have been subbed out at halftime. Latter is at crossroads regardless of court case, while former is no good.
New coach, assistants and S&C staff can’t come soon enough.

We kicked 13 in 3 quarters- that's pretty good. I think we knew the Dees would kick a few, and Balta was having his worst game of the year sheen back.
I thought he panicked half way through the third quarter. The Miller sub (take out the person) but we lost structure. That’s when Gawn started to really take control. Soldo was cooked. The Bata move forward was the right one but having him ruck as well was madness.
Miller should have gone back (couldn’t have done worse than Balta, Grimes or Young). Pickett, Cotchin or Mansell should have been subbed for Coulthard.
If Cotchin subbed, we could have tried Ross in middle & Pickett back to the wing.

For mine the Balta move came too late. He should’ve sent Balta (who was having a nightmare down back) forward, moved Miller (who’d done f all) down back to replace him, benched Pickett (who shouldn’t have even been playing) and brought Coulthard on earlier at the same time.
He does try innovative changes during the game but nothing came off this time.
Our biggest problem is our habit of picking up sacked former coaches as assistants so we get next to nothing in having new ideas when we need them. Not entirely against giving Mini a go next year but we need a good clear out of our assistant coaching staff and get new ideas

The other mistake Mini did was starting Cotchin up forward. That was straight out of the Hardwick ‘how to fail’ handbook.

What about Graham up forward. That’s been as successful as the AFLs entry into Western Sydney yet Mini keeps persisting with the dud.
