2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

Can't believe people think Graham and Ross are elite.lol
You can shift the goal posts as much as you like by using the above hyperbole, that's only making you look childish.

You may not rate with Graham or Ross and that's fine but to say they're poor kicks is objectively wrong.

The rationale of "I've seen them miss kicks" is nothing short of comical - if that is your factual threshold of evidence then every single player in the AFL is a rubbish kick.

Are Graham and Ross superstars? No
Are Graham and Ross bad kicks? No.

Both statements can be true.

Hairsmith and Graham are not in the same conversation, disposal wise.

Ross has always been a neat user in congestion too, and hits the safe target on the outside. Great decision maker, and excellent composure, at the very least.
yeah, Ross has improved his disposal a lot and was quite a decent user of the ball in 2023.

Graham has always been a good kick. He isn't elite but he is a more than adequate AFL kick.

Tom Gross is blonde and training with us.

Tom Gross
Midfielder/forward
181cm/70kg
15/9/06
Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro

With a tenacious and tough approach, there is a bit of Rory Sloane in the way Gross attacks his game. He spent this season with the Chargers as a forward/midfielder, kicking nearly a goal a game, including a couple of big games late in the Coates Talent League campaign. He has a bit of a rugged nature to his play that sees him throw himself into contests and come out the other side with the ball.

Both Tom Gross and Jagga Smith are small fellas. In an AFL era when a small mid is 185cm, these two are at 181 / 180 respectively. Both a great junior players but the age old question of how it will translate to AFL will linger.

Depends on the player. Chad Warner is 181 but plays 191. Prestia is 175.

I'm just using facts mate.

Those 2 players did not have an issue with their disposal this season - Hugo did, so I didn't debate that.

Jack Riewoldt also said on many occasions that Jack Graham was his favourite player to lead to - reckon that holds up too.
"Jack Riewoldt also said on many occasions that Jack Graham was his favourite player to lead to - reckon that holds up too." Spot-on Roksman! every day of the week i'd take a smart leading forward's opinion to put the concern/negativity over Fridge's disposal totally to bed. end the farce and when possible; get the ball in Fridge's hands when going inside 50!

He's also kicked 49.24 for his career: accuracy rate of 67.1% - Jason Dunstall 66.2%.

Judson Clarke is doing non competitive stuff, (so a lot of rehab), because of scapula surgery so the impression can't really be football.

He did however win the Happiest Little Camper on camp award down at Inverloch ;)

broke the scapula way back in early August. no idea what the usual recovery time is, but 4 months sounds a bit long from my uneducated opinion:unsure: hopefully no setbacks

Clearly McAuliffe does not belong here......................

I really like Sam Banks as a player. To me he is a modern day winger in the making.
I’m glad he is doing inside work because a lot of what Steve Morris said about him in vfl reports is that he hadn’t found the balance between inside and outside as a winger and maybe that is why he has been playing a bit as a half back.
He has a really good leg on him and I just reckon he will suit the style the coach is bringing.
Think Langdon at the demons

Langdon runs up and down the ground at pace.
Haven’t seen that running ability from Banks. He may be suited to the wing but not sure that’s the best comparison

yep, i agree with you. i know mcintosh and pickett have generally played that defensive wing role under Dimma, but id love to see us be more attacking with our wingmen and also play better users. marlion isnt bad but kamdyn is a poor kick. the amount of inside 50 kicks kamdyn has butchered :cautious: will be interesting to see who plays there, and their roles, also considering we are training more corridor footy

He got that ability from multiple pre seasons. Banks is a young player and his tank needs to be built.

That’s more a question at nick watson size 170 than >180 , nothing to see there

Running ability is Banks strong suit.

Getting across th ground on a wing is the least of his worries.

Winning more one on ones and tidying up disposal are his biggest focus areas ILO

No need for us becoming a slow kick/mark team. Talk out of the Club is faster ball movement with kicking skillz added in.

Nick Watson is in a category all of his own. He is a genuine midget but to this point is impossible to match up on when he puts his foot down and really tries hard.
Gross/Jagga will be facing off against some seriously big, strong fast men. Not many 180cm mids dominating these days aside from Lachy Neal who is a freak.
