2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

Dow dominant on the loose ball at stoppage. You can understand the comparisons to Shedda, the way he darts in, one-grabs the pill, dinks, jinks and is out in a blink.

Dermott Brereton and his girlfriend there today. Dunno why.

He’s shrunk Dermie. Even his girlfriend is taller than him.

How did taranto and hopper go today for the people at the game. Seemed as if they were in red to even it up slightly so the lesser players good still make it close. Wouod say taranto hopper and Prestia would be the starting mid this season.

I really really am trying to get my head around him playing forward, and I can understand we need another option up forward, but Balta’s 3 snaps on goal that went absolutely nowhere near the goals summed him up today. I’m also a bit concerned about Young and Gibcus as our two key backs. Sure it’ll be strengthened with the additions of Broad and Vlastuin but it’s an inexperienced duo. Can’t help but wish we’d just leave Balta down back. Who cares if he leaked some goals, he was the best intercept mark in the comp last year. He played some ripper games, like round 2 against the crows he killed Tex and almost single handedly kept us from getting overrun. Tighten up his defence and he’ll be AA calibre.

People on here ripped on his kicking as well today and having watched the replay, apart from the out on the full shot at goal I thought he was pretty tidy. Nice touch kick to mansell to set up his second goal. Pretty good all round game today

I won't be surprised if we start the season with Young, Miller and Gibcus all in defence, with Broad for support. None of them are slow, and Miller and Gibcus are quick.

Balta's playing forward, at least for now.

Reckon there was a couple you missed.

He’s a shocking kick. Not that he kicks that much (fortunately) because he looks to handball every time. Even he knows.

Yep I think that could be the set up as well, maybe Trezise or Brown for Miller potentially. The erratic nature of Balta could be a handful for defences but today he just looked all at sea. I know he copped a knock early so it might’ve thrown him off a bit, and he did play quite well up forward in round 23 and 24 so I guess we’ll just have to cross our fingers and hope for a better showing next time. @caesar please tell us Balta has looked better up forward in previous trainings/match sims this pre season?

If he keeps it within his limitations he’ll be fine. Taranto is a shocking kick as well but he should’ve been in the AA squad of 44 last year. Not everyone can kick bullets like Dusty

Personally, I don’t think we can carry another poor kick of the football in our midfield. Plus, he’s slow. And we are already a slow team on the ball.

Hopefully McAuliffe boots him out.

Still good to see the Taz and Hop 1-2 passing. Sure to see more of this during the season.
