2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

He is best forward. Lynch apart he is a much better footballer than anyone else we might play there. Needs to be given the opportunity to settle there
Not writing him off just yet and completely understand why he’s been thrown forward, he’s the best candidate of our key defenders to play forward, but it doesn’t mean we have to like it

How did Brown, Clarke and Seth go?
I didn't watch live but from the replay,...
Seth had a run in the midfield in the 2nd term, was good without getting a lot of the ball.
I only noticed Brown touch it once in the dying minutes, don't think he got near it all day and Green was kicking goals on him.
I didn't notice Clarke at all if he indeed played.

And Miller. Played on the last line of defence today, often taking Crazy Joe Balta.
Just on Balta. He will frustrate us this year. Will make the impossible look easy and make the easy look impossible.

Will kick 40 plus goals this year.

Aah Richo again! Kicks a goal from 50m out on the boundary and misses from 10m in front.

Looks interesting, possibly even entertaining . . . but could also be frustrating.

DS

PS: don't get me wrong, Richo was a champ, but geez he tried out patience at times.

Naismith was just about my highlight today. Moved really well & was more often than not outpointing all our rucks including the skipper. If he stays fit I can see pressure being applied.
Sydney judged him better back in 2016 and they have been pretty on the ball with their players for a long time.

Did Oliver Hayes-Brown play? This bloke's like a ghost at the club. Dead silence about him.

Sat down and watched the match sim replay on my phone. Had no idea what was going on so mirrored my phone to my 85imch TV. Still had no idea! Didn't help that the reds had no numbers. But, anyway, my comments from what I saw and questions for anyone that was there or had a bigger TV than me!

- overall looked like an absolute dogs breakfast. Did anyone hit a target? Good news is there is 5 weeks until round zero but we surely should be more advanced than we are skill wise? I have heard the reports of the coaches stopping drills at training for skill errors. If they did that today they would still be playing!

- who was in red opposite Nank in ruck? I heard reference to May (Archie?). Either way, they competed well but yellow did well to get the centre clearance

- Balta in no man's land (I've read this story before). Hope we try Gibcus forward at some stage in pre season as we all know Noah is not a forward.

- Dow to me looked next level. His lateral movement is second to none. When he kicks to advantage he also kicks well. He's not a Dusty kick though. Only kicks well in a finesse/set up scenario

- Maurice in yellow (I assume probables?). I saw one good defensive effort but surely Green and Campbell are preferred?

- Not sure there is anything new about the wings. Was hoping Yze would use the wingers better. But Marlion, McIntosh v Ross and Banks looked same old, same old. At least Ross and Banks were the yellows. I still love Ross and would love to see him more in the square than on the wing.

- I saw Lefau more than Schofield. But not sure either demanded a spot? I don't mind holding the spot open if neither are likely to play in the first half of the season (which I expect).

- Did Mate or Oliver Hyphon play.? Didn't see either.

- Kosi - need more. I saw him half some good contests which is part of his role although would like to see him clunk marks and kick goals too.

- Ralphsmith in yellow - FMD. Surely doesn't have photos of Dimma, Mini and Yze? Useless

Brown- great to see him in yellow. He has to be best 22.

If you didn't see Mate play then you probably shouldn't comment on anything you saw. The blokes the size of the grandstand!

To be honest it all looked about same same to me. Nothing really new or players in new roles apart from Balta forward which I assume is down to necessity due to the unknown re Lynch this year.

Highlights for me were Dow and Hopper. They both looked like the best midfielders out there. Hopper in great shape. McAuliffe will play a lot of senior footy this year - and early on.

Apart from that it’s very early in but I found it a bit…. Meh.
