2024 Draft Thread

They will have to dip into the future I would think, but it may be the only deal available to North & I suspect there will be some face saving in any Tauru negotiations.
Lolnorf had said they’d trade pick 2 for 2 first rounders
Seems they’ve got no other takers for it

I'm reasonably aligned but a little more flexible...

I'm OK with Smith, but only from 6.
I'm OK with Smillie, but only from 10.
I'm not convinced about Shanahan or Armstrong, so only at pick 18, preferably at 20+

I don't want Trainor due to concussions and I don't wont Dodson as I don't believe in drafting rucks early - unless they are special - he doesn't look special to me. Hotton I'm on the fence about due to ACL, OK with a 20+ pick .
Yeah lm not flexible ,l don't want them at all,UNLESS we draft them, then l hope like hell lm wrong .
Dodson l like ,l think he has a future

How about post about the player's we don't want .
Smith l don't think he's the type that will lead us to the promise land,,NOT AT THIS STAGE OF OUR BUILD.
Smillie a 195cm who isn't that strong overhead ,didn't think he was that good at the champs, probably a player lm a bit underwhelmed with ,considering his reputation .
Shanahan his academy game was terrible,it was WEAK,he looked scared .
Armstrong,he is one lm not sure about,,he is either really hot,or very cold ,but stuff it NO

Happy to be proven wrong .
With the exception of Jagga I feel exactly the same way, I spent some time watching Shanahan in the VFL and despite hitting the scoreboard none of his goals were cut from the cloth of a true power forward. He's crafty but you have to be exceptional to get by on this alone, Gunston is actually a rarity where this is concerned.

Armstrong looks pretty vanilla to me, maybe you get a player in that Amiss mould, that's still possible but I still prefer using a second rounder on Faull who stands every chance to be the better player. Jonty is more mobile but has inferior goal kicking, I think I would back myself to refine his kicking technique because you can't just instill a run and carry mindset into Armstrong, that simply won't happen.

I've already said enough on Smillie, at pick 10 I won't be too upset, at pick 6 ahead of Langford would be a mistake. Langford possesses elite kicking and is very strong overhead, there's options as a wingman, a mid or a medium forward. We have to play the percentages because Smillie is a midfield or bust proposition.

That only favours the Crows what do lolnorf get out of it by moving from 2 to pick 4?
That's the thing everyone has been asking. North would do it to get a 3rd pick in the draft but Adelaide don't really have one to offer them. They also have a very skinny 2025 draft position.
They would have to involve a 3rd club and use their F1 in some way but i reckon it is very unlikely

Jonty has done well this year, missed a lot of the early part of the season ,was another under done at the champs, and was tagged teamed a lot in games.
I have him and Jack Whitlock as the 2 l would want as key forwards .

On Nth swapping out of pick 2

There is no value dealing with Crows.

Still a chance we may swap..6 and a very late pick if Nth are desperate for 2 talls...but they must have 6 for Tauru...so we would only do it if we really wanted pick 2 to get
either FOS or Draper.

We can already get Smith or maybe Langford with 6...or Smillie or Reid.

Who knows...we may value FOS or Draper highly.
Will find out soon.

The value is that the Crows would trade an F2 (they'd need to find one first) with 4. North gets the Tauru they want plus a pick. They can trade their F1 to get back in the late frst round and still have two second rounders next year.

We're not trading pick 6. If they want two talls they can have 10 and 20.

We're not trading pick 6. If they want two talls they can have 10 and 20.
But they wont get Tauru with 10..so that does not work.
Like I said...unlikely we trade for 2....unless a particular player is wanted who will not get to 6....FOS or Draper.

You're saying there is no value for North dealing pick 2 with the crows for pick 4, but there's value in it for them taking our "pick 6 and a very late pick"????

I reckon we will have a choice between Draper and Smillie at six and go for Smillie. I hope we get Lindsay at 10 to balance out a Lalor/Smillie double. It would be good to get a strong two way runner if we go Lalor/Smillie.

If they want Tauru specifically they trade with Adelaide. If they want two talls they trade with us.

I’ve been calling for Richmond to bid on Ashcroft at 1 and Marshall early. I’ve watched him live 3 times and I am convinced he’ll be a star. Finally glad someone else is calling it out. Pick 11 for Marshall would be a great get.
Interesting to watch Cals delivery 1-5.
As I suspected he really is reaching given that he has been unable to penetrate the wall of silence that is the new Richmond.
He really has no idea what is going to happen.
Ashcroft and Marshall still a big chance to have their names called out early.
