2024 Draft Thread

He’s got to get past pick #1 first …………😉
That would be a bold move but I can see the logic, if Richmond feels strongly about Smillie and I believe there's a chance at 10, we could still get the best key position prospect and a couple of midfielders.

Can't agree.
It's a midfielders game.
We are chronically short of class midfielders.
In a draft with some good tall prospects likely available at our later picks.
Mids are first second and third priority for mine.

I read you Bengal, Lalor has amazing upside, I do like him & would be happy if we take him. I just think there's a little bit of downplaying with regards to Jagga and his potential upside, many felt the same way about Darcy Parish & Andrew Brayshaw, I reckon this is a similar scenario and I don't think Fremantle or Essendon regretted picking those players.

But whoever we land should be a core player, I think Lalor fitness pending should have a decent career and he does provide us with added flexibility. If the cards fall Richmond's way & we land Lalor & Langford I'll still be feeling good about this draft haul.
Yeah lm not a fan of Parish ,seems to *smile* himself every time he goes for goal, and is always looking to pass off, instead of having a shot.
To me he's not a natural inside type ,he has to push himself .
Lalor is a class above most ,elite kick, elite mark.Elite defense .good speed .runs out games ,leadership plus ,,and is tough as a cats head or something similar

Watching Thursfield talk to Twomey, I think the Viking is a lock for North. Thursty loves him.
Yeah he’s going to north. They want two talls

The only question in the top 6 to me is which one of Draper, Smith, Lalor, Langford and FOS is available at 6 and which of those would Richmond pick Smillie ahead of

So if Tauru goes to North how do the cards fall for us at 6.

2 Smith
3 Draper
4 Tauru
5 Finn
6 Langford or Smillie ?

Whatever happens we need good kicks of the footy and skill to. We seen the Lions with their excellent kicking cut the swans open their not blessed with a heap of speed.

How about post about the player's we don't want .
Smith l don't think he's the type that will lead us to the promise land,,NOT AT THIS STAGE OF OUR BUILD.
Smillie a 195cm who isn't that strong overhead ,didn't think he was that good at the champs, probably a player lm a bit underwhelmed with ,considering his reputation .
Shanahan his academy game was terrible,it was WEAK,he looked scared .
Armstrong,he is one lm not sure about,,he is either really hot,or very cold ,but stuff it NO

Happy to be proven wrong .

I'm reasonably aligned but a little more flexible...

I'm OK with Smith, but only from 6.
I'm OK with Smillie, but only from 10.
I'm not convinced about Shanahan or Armstrong, so only at pick 18, preferably at 20+

I don't want Trainor due to concussions and I don't wont Dodson as I don't believe in drafting rucks early - unless they are special - he doesn't look special to me. Hotton I'm on the fence about due to ACL, OK with a 20+ pick .

What do Crows give up for pick 2 when they’ve only got 1 first rounder in 2024?
They will have to dip into the future I would think, but it may be the only deal available to North & I suspect there will be some face saving in any Tauru negotiations.

Dodson is well and truly on our radar

Personally..I think Draper is an excellent running mid..he would be great on the MCG.
We desperately need run and carry

I also dont believe Crows dont want him. Blues do too.

I think thats why Crows want pick 2...to get Draper before blues..
If so.

Tigers..Lalor
Crows..Draper
Blues...FOS
Nith...Tauru
Dees...Langford
Tigers..Smith
Saints...Lindsay
Saints..Armstrong
Dees..Reid.< wish we got him>
Tigers..Smillie
Tigers...Marshall/Shanahan/Trevaglia/ Whitlock/ Berry.....who knows!

If Nth keep pick 2

Lalor
Tauru
Draper to Blues
FOS to Crows
Langford to Dees
Smith to Tigers

Just a swap of Draper and FOS
Draper would be good for us if he got to 6...unlikely.
