I can see this happening and would not be unhappy with it for us. However, t is very much a boom or bust approach (which I agree we will take). i.e. instead of Lalor, Smillie, Allen, J Whitlock we could take higher floor, lower ceiling types like, Smith, Tauru, Travaglia, & Reid.Listening to this, I think the top 20 is as follows;
Pick 1: Lalor Rich
Pick 2: Ashcroft Bris
Pick 3: FOS North
Pick 4: Draper Carl
Pick 5: Smith Ade
Pick 6: Langford Mel
Pick 7: Smillie Rich
Pick 8: Reid St.Kilda
Pick 9: Kako Ess
Pick 10: Lombard GC
Pick 11 Tauru St. Kilda
Pick 12: Armstrong Melb
Pick 13: Allan Ric
Pick 14: J Whitlock Rich
Pick 15: Travaglia WCE
Pick 16: Shanahan Port
Pick 17: M Whitlocks Freo
Pick 18:Lindsay GWS
Pick 19: Berry GWS
Pick 20 Marshall Bris
I don't consider it a secret deal, just an arrangement that would logically evolve out of a negotiation in this type of scenario where Tigers have helped them get their man. Brisbane are going to match the bid regardless so there's no risk bidding on Ashcroft even with lack of evaluation if the Tigers want to make Brisbane pay. No idea about Marshall but that is someone we would end up with if bidding for him at #1.I dont reckon we week bid on Ashcroft at 1, not because of some secret deal with the Lions, but because we princely haven't interviewed him and won't have spent much time watching, instead we will be spending our energy on guys we are actually choosing between.
Likewise we won't bid early on Marshall because we wont have spent much time trying to rank him.
That’s a good a mock as I’ve seen , makes a lot of sence SAListening to this, I think the top 20 is as follows;

Pick 19: Berry GWS
Pick 20 Marshall Bris
Possibly trying to get a feel if he believes the Tiges will take him and then if it’s worth trading up to pick 2 as they may want FOSWord on the street is the crows interviewed Lalor again today. Maybe other clubs don't feel he is a lock to go to the Tigers anymore.
Unfortunately that list includes Ashford and Lombard so our pick would be #12. Miss Langford by that much.Langford 11. Reid 18..yipee!
Take them both if possible.
Could get Lalor and Tauru with this ranking.
Throw in Shanahan late teens and Hannaford and Dattoli in the 20s.
That is the perfect haull. A great mix.
Dont think it pans out that way but if it could then no need to trade up.
That is 7 class players.
PS...Throw in J Whitlock at last pick !

Yes!So it’s clear that Melbourne and St Kilda are both after a mid then tall - most drafts have them doing this, so between them they get the 2 best ranked KPP between them.
I reckon we need to break their strategy up if we can, waiting till 10 knocks us out of this race.
You can see why there is no discussion about Melb trading up the order with #5 and #9 and it’s unfortunate that both these picks fall immediately before our 2nd and 3rd picks.
I am coming around to trading #10 and a later pick for #2 if we can, still not sure of both #10 and #11 yet.
How the hell can "ceiling" be a statistical analysis data point. How do we measure that? Its just one guys opinionStrange Smillie rated Ceiling Elite,
Consistency, Contested, Disposal, Agility and Strength all Above Average
I actually wouldnt mind this. He looks like he gets a fair bit of the ball around the ground. Sampson is tops a 50 /50 to make it to be honest. Looking at the training highlights his body does not seem to have progressed. His arms look the same as when he started at the clubhttps://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl...world-took-a-wicked-turn-20241112-p5kpxi.html
Article in The Age that we are heavily linked to the SA ruck Dodson
Yeah I was tossing up whether Melbourne go with Lindsay instead of Armstrong.I pretty much agree with you, SA. Lindsay might go quite a bit earlier, I reckon.
