I can see this happening and would not be unhappy with it for us. However, t is very much a boom or bust approach (which I agree we will take). i.e. instead of Lalor, Smillie, Allen, J Whitlock we could take higher floor, lower ceiling types like, Smith, Tauru, Travaglia, & Reid.

Word on the street is the crows interviewed Lalor again today. Maybe other clubs don't feel he is a lock to go to the Tigers anymore.

I dont reckon we week bid on Ashcroft at 1, not because of some secret deal with the Lions, but because we princely haven't interviewed him and won't have spent much time watching, instead we will be spending our energy on guys we are actually choosing between.
Likewise we won't bid early on Marshall because we wont have spent much time trying to rank him.
I don't consider it a secret deal, just an arrangement that would logically evolve out of a negotiation in this type of scenario where Tigers have helped them get their man. Brisbane are going to match the bid regardless so there's no risk bidding on Ashcroft even with lack of evaluation if the Tigers want to make Brisbane pay. No idea about Marshall but that is someone we would end up with if bidding for him at #1.

Langford 11. Reid 18..yipee!

Take them both if possible.

Could get Lalor and Tauru with this ranking.

Throw in Shanahan late teens and Hannaford and Dattoli in the 20s.

That is the perfect haull. A great mix.

Dont think it pans out that way but if it could then no need to trade up.
That is 7 class players.

PS...Throw in J Whitlock at last pick !
Unfortunately that list includes Ashford and Lombard so our pick would be #12. Miss Langford by that much.

Would prefer...
Lalor
Reid
Allen/Lindsay
Whitlock
Then...
Hannaford
Faull
Dattoli
Algar/ Hynes

Only a minor variation...
Would prefer picks 1 and 2 and 6!!
Want FOS/ Langford/ Smith.

So it’s clear that Melbourne and St Kilda are both after a mid then tall - most drafts have them doing this, so between them they get the 2 best ranked KPP between them.

I reckon we need to break their strategy up if we can, waiting till 10 knocks us out of this race.

You can see why there is no discussion about Melb trading up the order with #5 and #9 and it’s unfortunate that both these picks fall immediately before our 2nd and 3rd picks.

I am coming around to trading #10 and a later pick for #2 if we can, still not sure of both #10 and #11 yet.

I pretty much agree with you, SA. Lindsay might go quite a bit earlier, I reckon.

Yes!
We need 1, 2, 6, one of 10 or 11, 18...
Give Nth 10 or 11 and a pick in the 20s.
That gives us the best chance to find the perfect picks.
Will be tough..Nth want 6...but may accept 10...with 20 ish.
