2024 Draft Thread

Good read this.

Langford 11. Reid 18..yipee!

Take them both if possible.

Could get Lalor and Tauru with this ranking.

Throw in Shanahan late teens and Hannaford and Dattoli in the 20s.

That is the perfect haull. A great mix.

Dont think it pans out that way but if it could then no need to trade up.
That is 7 class players.

PS...Throw in J Whitlock at last pick !

Never seen anyone correctly guess our picks when we've only 3 or 4, let alone 7 or 8 - though admittedly our supporters are probably studying this draft pool more closely than any since drafts started.

Love to snag Hotton, prefer Gerryn to Dodson.
Gerryn looks more like a Richmond type, the last time we had a Dodson was around the time of Strawbs O'Dwyer. I do like Dodson however, high production rucks with a good contested game are generally sound selections. Big upside too, he's a basketballer so the learning curve has only just hit the vertical axis.

Why don't we pick Tauru at 1. Then with Tauru gone offer North pics 10 & 11 for pick 2 and then we have
1 2 and 6.
Just another thought on the possibilities

Will say it again. Norf are between a rock and a hard place.

Just like WCE during trade week, they have the choice of having to eat up a lot ....or eat up a lot less.

They can't just keep 2 and use it on Tauru and that's it. Done. They have to get another pick in this draft somehow and that's where they'll have to suck it up a bit in a trade with someone for the sake of avoiding a totally overs and inefficient outcome.

And they will. Just watch. They'll accept a trade with someone, of some sort or another, on draft night.

And then we will complete the Greek tragedy by selecting Tauru.

Was just discussed, you do that if Smith or Langford were guaranteed at 6. Aside from the pressure of pick 1 it doesn't matter about the pick number assigned to each player, that's just for the history buffs or the media agitators. Just need to focus on the net result.

They don’t have to be seen to win the pick trade by those outside their club.
It’s one pick they can turn into 2. Even JC couldn’t do that. Water and wine yeah, most of can do that one, ant we Shirazford? ;)
But it takes balls of steel to swap p2 for p10 and p20.

I agree red , but unfortunately for us they will trade their f1 for the best pick available in the top 20. 18 would be perfect for us but I reckon gws will get the job done with pick 16

Well said
Then we don't trade. It's easy.

1 and 6 (7) get us 2 very good players from the first tier.
10 and 11 gets us 2 more from the next tier.
I'm not giving up 6 and 10/11 to get 2. I'd give 10 and 18 though.

This is the baseline for our rebuild. We need 8 players. I want 8 good ones, not 6 and 2 average.
