2024 Draft Thread

Exactly, tl. (IIRC 3000pts - 2517pts *.8 = 386.4) But anyway, as you say, where's our half? Twomey tells us we won't bid.
Yes good point, didn't take into account the 20% discount but theory is the same.

North podcasts I've been watching don't see a Richmond trade unless it includes #6 which we will not do. But still a risk that Demons go Tauru.

Pick 1 lack of success is because the team that gets pick #1 is usually the worst in the league by a long way and just don't recover within the player's career. Tigers aren't going to bid on Ashcroft at #1 imo. Makes no sense for Tigers and Brisbane to not agree to not bid as we could have kept the 500 or so extra points in player draft picks instead of giving it to them.
Blair has said in effect that he would not give such an undertaking and I believe him. The fact that we included the Fremantle pick 32? in the pick swap for 20 tends to support. If he follows through on that approach then I think we will bid on both Ashcroft and possibly Marshall as well.

If demons go Tauru then there is an extra early mid available to us at 6

One thing to consider when using the points system to evaluate these trades is the dilution of value as the academy bids roll in, the picks we have traded will no doubt slide down the order once these players are assigned to their respective clubs.

I hope so. Marshall has been overlooked because it was taken that he’d be going to Brisbane. I’ve watched him live 3 times and he’s a gun. I’d rather him than any player after the first 6.

This is why we shouldn't be tossing out pick 6, prime real estate to land a top tier player, whatever position that may entail.
I don't think there will be any tossing out of picks. Pick 2 is primer real estate.

You have to pony up, and while we have a lot picks wise, we can't have everything.

Sure, let's trade with North and pick Tauru. The looks on the Kangas faces would be priceless.

Yes ts. 2 is prime real estate. So is 3, and the blues gave up 12 & 14. Market value clearly set.

On the value of pick #3, let’s offer 11+18. They’ll take that. Won’t they?

All he has is that we have talked to players, some more than others
I don't know his sources, Sin. Accuracy is all we can measure. We'll see.

Cartoon 12 14 for 3
Then our picks 10 11 should be enough for 2 if we choose to trade
What the Weagles accepted for pick 3 had no relevance to what the Roos will accept for pick 2, not what we think is a good deal.

Using your logic our pick 6 is worth 2 picks in the late teens.

I just watched Gettable and it is interesting how differently people hear the words but to me he is saying North will take Tauru at 2.

What I heard was

1. Richmond will take Lalor or FOS, not set in stone. Smith very outside chance
2. north will take Tauru at 2 and will use their F1 to get another pick
3. Carlton will consider Lalor/FOS/Smith/Draper/Langford at 3.
4. FOS, Langford and Lalor probably don’t get past top 5 but when you work it out one of them could.
5. Tigers have earliest interest in Smillie but also could get to St Kilda or our pick 10.
6. We aren’t trading for pick 2, only talks are between Adelaide and North
7. We really like Bo Allen
8. We aren’t overly interested in Draper

So my read would be

Lalor/FOS
Tauru
FOS/Lalor
Draper or Langford
Draper, Langford or Smith
Smillie,Langford or Smith

To me in this scenario we want Adelaide to take Draper because if they do one of Langford and Smith will drop to us at 6, probably Jagga, and I would strongly suspect we would take him and hope Smillie drops to 10. If he doesn’t we will take Bo Allen

The Saints currently have picks 7, 8, 32, 47, 80 & 88.

We have 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23, & 24.

Would the Saints entertain their pick 7 or 8, along with 32 & 47 for our picks 23 & 24? We end up with picks 1, 6, 7 or 8, 10, 11, 18, 20, 32 & 47.

They would still have pick 7, and gain our 23 & 24, we get another top 10 pick, and picks 32 & 47. There's still going to be some good players in the 30's and 40's.

Or would they come at our 20 & 24 instead of our 23 & 24.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, I've been away recently for a few weeks.

For me personally, the 3 players I see has 100% certainties to get to 100 games + and become at least very good afl.players are Lalor, fos, Draper, just too many afl weapons to not be good.
