2024 Draft Thread

I saw Clarke interviewed, one of the best in the business, and its a decent field, at giving the impression of saying something while saying nothing.
Clarke won't give much away directly, ts. He will have a very good idea of who Thursfield is taking. I reckon he knows. And Clarke knows he can get Smith and will probably take him.

Ogilvie is the wildcard here. His ability to pluck the one battler from a dozen champions is off the scale. If it's just luck he'll pick a good one this year but I have a feeling he has the Sadim Touch.

I buy McGowan's note that Jason Taylor is putting it out there that MFC may bid on Kako. Taylor does his own thing and gets plenty right. And may be just bluffing to put pressure on Essendon in this trade period. How will newb Matt Rosa react, if at all?

Of course, Taylor knows exactly how to make it look like MFC is really going to take Kako. I hope he takes the next steps in the rumourmongering process. Watch Kako rocket up Twomey's board. FWIW I haven't ruled out that Taylor wants Kako. For now it's byplay.

Ogilvie and Taylor. The next pieces of the puzzle.

Toce
Thursfield
Clarke
Ogilvie
Taylor
Probably Toce with the name Smillie getting around.

My man Kayle Gerreyn was 6th in the agility, not bad for a big lump of a kid, 199cm and 99 kg's.

Back to ground zero, this draft is the last chance saloon before Tasmania hit the scene. My fear is the lack of talls at the pointy end, I feel a reach is necessary but not at 1. Best CV belongs to Jagga Smith, no risks please, this isn't the year to get cute.

Welcome back

We keep hearing this about Tassie but the fact is theirs is still a conditional licence & its conditional on building that stadium. They are Brendon's words not mine by the way

Nice to have you back Bully.
Other than Jagga...lots to consider.
Whitlock and Faull are talented talls...just not in the Lynch mould.
I like Jack Ough...looks very classy, poised and has time...reminds me of Fyfe a bit...would love him as a second round pick...might be a big surprise over time. Any thoughts?

Thoughts on FOS bigger upside for me.
I think talls are there later after 15 goes deep to.

100%, our 1st pick needs to be both worthy and of minimal risk.

Risk versus reward, I don't think you can pick for upside at 1, there has to be an element of conservatism. There's overall production to consider and he lags Smith by quite some margin, there's also a hip concern plaguing O'Sullivan.

3 x midfielder
2 x key position forward
1 x ruck

Got to get the talls in pronto.
