2024 Draft Thread

Two things,

1) FOS has had contact injuries, breaks in fingers, hip issues, smaller body, limited training. Lot of positive stuff that can be fixed.
2)Lalor - or Mudguts as @Redford calls him, needs to get fit. Reckon his injuries are from fitness, not body. But Lalor has played elite cricket and footy, maybe overloaded the body. Huge scope for improvement.

Both are super talents, I see them playing similar roles. FOS is better in the air, 1 on 1 in the square he will be a nightmare. The way the Swans point to a spot and kick it to Heenay, I could see FOS doing that. Lalor will just monster people 1 on 1, with physical power. Both play the same role but differently.

Both will play forward -mids to start. Not sure either end up full time mids for at least 4-5 years.
Interesting on FOS.

I thought his YOYO endurance numbers were through the roof.

Whilst I don't think he will be full time mid he can and should get some stints in the middle from Year 1. I agree he will take a while for his body to harden

Their f1 is on the table.
#2 & F1.

I agree with what you are saying but you still haven’t told me who you think is the bigger risk which is what my query is all about, not their ability.
The risk is equal. That's why I wouldn't take both. Take one for sure but not both.

Yep, his YOYO numbers were good. Show there is potential for that midfield capability down the road. Hasn't shown that in games this year with the ability to knock up big numbers while running big km's. Tested extraordinarily well so he can build into it but hasn't translated that test result into real footballing midfield numbers yet. Will take time.

Lets make sure of it.
Get all 3 (Jagga/Lalor & Fos)
Picks 1/2 & 3.
Sure it will cost us 2 1st rnds but the way i see it.Bolton(29)/Baker(Rookie) & Rioli(15) we're already ahead for what we got when drafted.
Keep in mind we're more than likely finishing bottom 2 next year. This years top 3 & next year top2 pick is a great foundation on top of the rest of 24 class(10/12/21/22)

I agree, based on this years junior form he is a clear number one and probably Langford second but we are only interested in who becomes the best AFL player. That could easily be Smith but it might not be either, this is where professional recruiters earn their money.
Twomey was on Triple M and believes that pick one is a race in four still, Lalor, Langford, Smith and O’Sullivan. He said he still has no idea of who is favourite from that group.

He didn’t do any testing this year but he did quite well last yr in time trials. Endurance isn’t an issue with Finn

Sheesh we're up to 8 first rounders. By this time next week the trend should take it to 15.
The way our master drafters here are going, we’ll probably have at least 2. dozen or more first rounders.
How many have we traded out? How many need to go? We might need to push some half a dozen into 2025 first rounders 😊
