2024 Draft Thread

What this FOS vs Jagga tells us all is that we need both.

Laurel & Hardie
Abbott & Costello
Gilligan & The Skipper
B1 & B2

You cant have one without the other.

Operation get picks 1 & 2. Or worst case 1 &3.

how could you miss Jagger and Richards Aces?

if we pull it off, im calling FOS Keith* unrelentingly

* and cause I seem to be unable to make myself clear, as if my keyboard is posting on mandarin and I can't see it, I want to be really clear about this analogy:

I have been a big Rolling Stones fan for 40 years, and always thought Keith was the MVP.

(although, the data may suggest otherwise)

chances are we won't get 2 or 3, and our next pick will most likely be 6.

what's the best & most realistic 1 / 6 combo we could hope for?

jagga and Lalor/Langford/Reid

I reckon FOS is heading west.

1, 6 (Rioli), 9 (Bolton), 10 (Baker), 14 (Brisbane), 17 (Bolton), 20 (Rioli) 21, 22 (Graham).

Yze takes some photos with 7 new draftees after night one of the draft, then we come back for the first 2 picks of night 2 and we all go to the pub.

Pick 1 I want a match winner, someone who takes the game by the scruff of the neck and wills his team to victory.

Dusty
Cotch
Voss
Judd

Too much to ask this year it appears.
Reid - Not much data but pretty likely match winner
Cadman - Not much data but doubt it
J Horne-Francis - Same as Reid. Likely match winner
JUH - No
M Rowell - No
S Walsh - No
C Rayner - No
A McGrath - No
J Weitering - No
P McCartin - No
T Boyd - No
L Whitfield - No
J Patton - No
D Swallow - No
T Scully - No

Too much to ask most years.

Getting pick 14 or whatever it actually ends up being is the easiest thing to do. But what is the actual cost for us of getting that pick?
According to the comments n thoughts of some ( and as you've posted also ) this return pick from Brisvegas is the be all and end all of the deal. I'm saying at the price required we're simply ripping ourselves off badly so there needs to be some big sweeteners for us in the deal somewhere.
Exactly right

If we end up with 1 , 6 , 9 , 10 and 17 we may end up using the later 3rd 4th rounders to move the existing picks up or trade into 25 for picks in the 2nd round

I can't see us not taking the best KPF still there sunrise day 2, and according to most rankings, there should be the pick of 4-5 rippers

I wouldn't be against banking the best available KPF at 9 or 10.

like I think scoop said, they are generally an investment that hold value.
who do you pick as your first KPF?

Rayner has won a H&A match.

pretty sure it was in April 2022

I'll preface it by saying dont really understand them and im largely going off what other blokes say.

I like Simms the most, but hes gonna be there in the 20's almost certainly. maybe even 30's. its just a hunch on a few traits ive seen - speed, agility, taking there ball high one grab, below the knees work. all glimpses, which iOS all I expect out of an 18yo FF.

I also like what I see in Jack Whitlock (work rate up field, mitts)

but I think the data suggests Armstrong is the most blue chip and probably should be the first called?

ive been banging on about data and evidence all year, so I can suddenly start going on vibe.

Faull has a body of work and a rapidly improving trajectory, which im big on.

But yeah, I think J Riewoldt and N.balta are the only talls I can claim to have gotten very right over the years?

since you asked, but take with a fistful of grains of salt
