2024 Draft Thread

Bolton has more to offer than Petracca. This is based on age and how banged up rac now is

it would be buyer beware on Trac.

a bloke whose game is predicated on courage and impact, who had to listen to surgeons talk about their golf round while they sewed up his spleen and is seeing a trauma-shrink?

He'd have to be super-human to be the same player.

he might be? Voss and Hird played similar and kept doing it after onfield car crashes.

But odds would be against it you reckon?

get well soon Trac

It's so not. On the Eddie McGuire/Jimmy Barter podcast this week, Eddie launches into it and how fragile the games banks on media right money growing (that is drying up actually) and how if that slows, the industry will crumble. And Jimmy Bartel talks of how he wants to be in a club and works his way into being a club CEO. Again, I would have him at Richmond in a heartbeat.

The AFL lacks innovation. Particularly in recruitment.
You can already see that the FTA landscape is changing.Mass sacking across all networks with CH10 more than likely to go under soon. This is all due to loss revenue through us the public changing the way we watch media. These days its though Subscription based platforms.Advertising money just isn't there anymore.
This will have a massive impact on the next round of Tv rights across the board not just AFL.

We will definitely get bent over for bolton and rioli thise dreaming of pick 6 for rioli and 9 and 10 for bolton. Prepare to get the lube out they will go in dry and absolutely ream us
Freo and Suns need Bolton and Rioli more than we need them off our books.
We hold the advantage.
They will pay.

Nah don’t think so

We screwed nth for ccj did the Same to port for saldo and screwed the system to get the pick for Vickery for shai

Swings and roundabouts

This year will be very important though and in many ways go a way to define Blair’s tenure

He has build a premiership list before he needs to do it again .

In Blair we trust
I was actually talking about the points system and trading draft picks not trading players.
But on that subject, I believe we also haven’t been aggressive enough on trading players whilst they still hold currency.
But we’re more than making up for it this year.

and that's a bad thing? this is rather ironic coming from you given your username ;)
LoL.Yes the irony.
But at the time who knew that Pickett was going to retire or even Dusty for that matter.
Even the situation with Bolton & Rioli.

Maybe, but with the media now suggesting Kosi Pickett might be doing a Shai ,that will complicate things ,unless West Coast are interested in Bolton .

Freo could land both. That would transform their forward line. They have four first rounders over the next two years before they start talking players.

Would be more of a salary cap issue than assets to get the deal done.

Nah won't change a thing.
Thank god we got into Freo's ear or was it Freo got into our ear first. ;)

considering Baker prefers WCE, this would be a good deal:

so the basis is:
To WCE: Baker & Pick 6 (from GC)
To Tigs: Pick 3 and another first Rd pick

then can also muck around with seconds/thirds to balance it out.

but this will give us pick 1 and 3 and give us the two gun mids weve all been discussing!

then we just need to get 6 back so we can get all 3!

According to Ryan Daniels - that Pickett's management contacted Fremantle earlier this week. Fremantle are interested but could not give a guarantee as Shai Bolton is the priority. Also surprisingly said that cap space is not a problem.

Not sure the AFL will allow Fremantle to use a future first under the 2 in 4 rule. They last used 2 first round picks in 2021. They would probably have to try for an exemption. Ideally they would use a first round pick this year to reset. Trading picks 2 years out come in next year (2027 will be compromised draft though)

Even for Richmond getting Gold Coast's pick 20 (1st round) might be important in any trade we do with Fremantle.

Think a Fremantle player(s) could well make way especially if they look to target Warner

yeah its a good point - he does play pretty safe.

I wonder if coaching could elevate his risk taking? give him attacking gears?

we saw vastly contrasting Trent Cotchin's from 2016 to 2017.

or if hes just smart enough to play within his limitations?

or is it just his disposition? safety a weapon? his role is to get the ball and feed it to the bold risk-taking blokes?

I think its the latter: he plays a reliable, coal face, team first, low risk game.

a bit of an Alfie Langer?

people who havnt seen him and read that are going to :vomit at the prospect

of that game at Pick 1.

but then they will see his obsessive clearance work, and :banana

he's not going to appear to lead us from the wilderness single-handedly, like Dusty.

But I think he will be an outstanding addition to any midfield in the competition
If he's the Alfie Langer equivalent - then No. 1 all day long!

I would think the Demons would want a couple of picks, and one being earlier than what Fremantle have got ,and really so should the Tigers.
We should be pushing Shai and Bakes towards West Coast if they are interested.

Anyway 3 matches of Coates starting at 10.30 am in Ballarat tomorrow ,,Weather is suppose to be windy AGAIN
