Neck and Neck between Hardwick and Buckley. 50 votes each.

Interesting that Bucks reckons the RFC needs to do better than likes of McGuane and Moore in key back posts. ............... music to my ears.

He said it a coupla weeks ago if i recall correctly.

Tigers can certainly do better and need to better than the flying pencil amongst plenty of others.

Moore aint a Key defender and has been caught out this year being made to play as one.

Think Hird with an 'experienced " assistant would be a good fit for us. Did craig cameron sit in the box when wallace was coaching or only since Jade has tken over

In light of how well a tiger great in Knights is going over at windy hill, and all the talk about formaer greats coming back to the club, well has anybody thought of this man:

LAMBERT.

There one from left field, wadda yas reckon??

Although Hardwick seems to tick a lot of boxes, something about him doesn't sit right with me. He was passed over for the Essendon job, and possibly the St.Kilda and Melbourne jobs, and I wonder why.

If reports are true, he missed the Essendon gig partly because he thought the list was poor which ATM he seems to have got wrong. It's also said that he didn't think the indigenous players should be treated differently. Finally, its said that his final presentation to the board he was hamstrung because at the last minute he was required to use a different computer which he didn't handle well.

I realise I'm basing this on pretty much nothing, but to me all this suggests inflexibility. This might not be a great trait in a senior coach, especially when it come to game day, and tactics.

Report that I've had from a Hawthorn contact is that Hardwick is a good assistant coach but maybe not sharp enough to be a head coach - certainly not in the same league as Clarkson. Therefore I've gone off him as an option for us.

It now looks to me that we have a choice between Buckley and Sheedy unless another left field (e.g. Clarkson type) candidate emerges. The fact that Bartlett has come out strongly about Sheedy may also reflect broader views of the past players/officials.

The key thing for the club to do is stick to the process, identify the best candidates and properly assess/interview each of them to arrive at the correct choice - whoever that may be. This appointment is absolutely crucial to not just the future success of the club, but also to its survival as a Melbourne based club.

The past 25 years of one on-field calamity after another has to stop here. Rebuild recruiting; rebuild player development and employ the best coaching staff possible.

Disagree. I reckon there's still some blokes called Longmire, Hinkley and A.Richardson who are being considered too. Maybe another little smoky in W.Campbell. The field is still pretty wide and strong. Here's hoping Mr.Cameron's process can weed us out the best prospect.

I think there will be plenty considered, but when the short list is drawn up it will be between the two mentioned. If an alternate shows up through the process, then so be it. As long as it's the best person for the job, I'll be satisfied.

Not something I wanted to read, that's one of my concerns about Hardwick. :help

In the light of the Port decision to keep Williams,Its fair to say that perhaps there is some concerns about Hardwick.

Do you guys actually think that the club will approach Sheedy to join the interview process? I have a feeling that they will not. And from what Sheedy said yesterday I doubt he will approach the club either.

I'm inclined to think you are right, but if they are being as "exhaustive" as indicated they should.

Agree with DD - if the club undertake this role properly, they should talk to/assess Sheedy. They'd be negligent if they didn't. The job is to assess all available and qualified candidates and come up with the best option. In Sheedy's case, it shouldn't solely rely on who approaches whom.

No doubt that they should approach him. Like you said if they are genuine about this exhaustive process Sheedy would be on their list. Just have the feeling that 'egos' might prevent this from happening.

If ego's get in the way to ask any prospective coach, no matter who they are, then as far as I am concerned the process to select a coach is flawed !

Is then the decision for the best for them or RFC?
