Keep in mind mate, when he said that he was in a marketing role. Since when did marketing have to be accurate? ;D

Now I've read it all the Hun quoting Smoking Aces! :cutelaugh For the record I think we should take Buckley it was apparent last week that we have no gut runners in our side apart from Benny. How could this have happened this year? If I read another pre-season worth of articles saying we are training the house down and are beating all times over Tan etc I will spew!!!! At least Buckley will have the midfield right and we might get some good draft picks at years end. I think we would be getting a Voss equivalent. Sheedy was making too many weird decisions at the end at Essendon. Look how much better they are under Knighta in such a short time! That sells it for me despite Sheeds being a great ideas man.

sheeds & jim

Get on the bangwagon PRE, Sheedy to take-over the head coaching role on a 3 year contract with Jim Hird as his understudy (ala barrasi/eade at sydney). Get this place back in order on-the-field with James to step in when 3 years has gone by and he is fully equipped to takeover the role. The combination was successful at essendon so there is no reason it cant be successful at RFC.

i think jim hird is as knowledgable and is as respected as buckley but he has 2 things buckley doesnt; he is a premiership player and captain, he has been to the top and premierships are what its all about. i also believe that the courage and leadership that james hird showed as a player was far & above what buckley showed and this kind of attribute will rub off on the playing group in spades and will be crucial to bringing back the Richmond Football Club to the giant it once was.

What evidence is there that Hird is remotely interested?

James Hird has alot going on in his life. Why would he want to a) coach and b) coach us?

Re: sheeds & jim

Yes! Let's get Sheeds groom Jim and see him go to the Dons after 3yrs!

nothing is certain in life and football Mr T
if we can get 3 years from a hird sheedy combination i would be happy

I'm more concerned that we might get Bucks and watch him walk out after 2-3 years. back to Scumwood. He has a history of doing this stuff.

That history indicates we'll get a premiership or 3 when he leaves and the Pies will struggle.

there isnt evidence to say he is interested but that isnt to say he isnt worth propositioning. presenting a person of hirds ilk with a kind of blueprint where he would do an appreticeship underneath "the master" sheedy to eventually become the main man may appeal to him but we will never know unless it is presented to him. he had a year away from footy, he is now gradually becoming involved again via the media and his next step could be coaching and who better to learn off than kevin sheedy.

Healy also just said that Choco Williams is still interested in the Richmond job and that we are very interested in talking to him. Hird said he wasn't interested in the Tiges job but was very coy about it. May not be a completely dead duck that one - but it might be too.
