I got a feeling that we're gunna be left with the scraps again (like when we were left with spud). All the talk is about Buckley going to North, Hardwick will end up at Port, Malthouse will stay put. Hird, Matthews and Sheedy wont want to do it. We'll be left with Williams (DON'T WANT!!!) Rawlings , Campbell and a few others.

Where has all the talk of Buckley going to North come from?

The scraps might be the best, I went for Hinkley. I see there are 2 of us who did that.

The Buckley to North talk has come from North itself.

Hardwick.

Yet to see any downside to Hardwick. He is my man by a long way. If I was Damien Hardwick I would be trying to put Dean Laidley in my back pocket. Maybe even Neale Danhier. Hardwick with a expecirenced person next to him would be a dream result.

I prefer we got Mick Malthouse to coach us.

But in the end I think the pies will resign him for 2 years.

The coach for RFC I believe will come from the following group "Buckley, M Williams & Lethal".

I hope the club sign Laidley as a assistant.

To be honest, I think there are two that didn't make the list who could still come under some serious consideration ...
* J. Longmire
* G. Ayres

I will agree with Longmire.

You have lost me on Ayres. ???

Question to all that voted Malthouse.

If he couldn't bring the Pies a premiership with unlimited resources behind him, how is he going to go at a club that has an ordinary culture and a fraction of Collingwoods money?

Also he has no hope of a premiership in the short term with our basket case of a list. Therefore we expect him to lead us to a premiership in his early to mid 60's once the list has been turned over yet again. Possible but highly improbable. Go for a young coach.

Agree with you Scoop.

I'd be planning a structure similar to:

Director of Coaching (Mentor role): - Malthouse / Matthews / Sheedy / Daniher type

Senior Coach: - D.Hardwick
Senior Coach's Executive Assistant: (Administrative)
Junior Development Coach: K.Johnson
VFL Coach: J.Rawlings
Midfield Coach: (need a new one)
Defense Coach: Andy Collins
Forward Coach: C.McCrae

Specialist Ruck/Tall Fwd Coach: David Cloke
Specialist Tackling Coach: Andy Collins dual role.
Specialist Kicking Coach:

Fitness & Running Coach:
Weights & Conditioning Coach:

2 B continued (WIP)

Johnson as Development coach ? Cloke was more CHF than Ruck.

Id imagine better than most coaches yet alone young, untried ones.

Lets forget about premierships for a moment. How about we start with getting consistency and playing finals regularly? Malthouse is the coach to do so in my opinion. And his record isnt that bad t Collingwood, how does 15th,9th,4th,2nd,13th,15th,5th,6th,8th,4th so far this year sound to you compared to what the Tigers have achieved in the last 10 years? 6 finals out of 10 is not a bad record, you can take away the first two years as he had to do a rebuild from last place the previous year to him taking over, so 6 out of the last 8 years finals experience.

We have to walk before we run and that means getting consistently competitve first.

Our club requires a man with unwavering self confidence and aggression. We have special needs because of our culture which MUST change. This is an opportunity to set the tone for the next ten years. Discipline, team, work ethic and media savvy are the four pillars.
I dont know much about the bantam roosters, but Malthouse and Matthews seem capable of uniting the place with their swagger and charisma. Maybe take on the best of the bantams as a potential successor.

My preference at the moment would be (providing we have the funds):

Director of Coaching/Opposition Analysis:
- Dean Laidley
-------------------------------------------
Senior Coach: Damien Hardwick
Development Co-ordinator: Craig McCrae
Junior Development Coaches: Wayne Campbell, Kane Johnson
VFL Coach: Jade Rawlings
Midfield Coach: Adam Simpson
Defense Coach: Sean Wellman
Forward Coach: Blake Carracella
Specialist Ruck/Development Coach: Shaun Rehn
-------------------------------------------
Fitness & Running Coach: Cameron Falloon (ex Port Adelaide)
Weights & Conditioning Coach: Michael Dugina (ex Collingwood)
Physiotherapist & Fitness Coach: Duncan Kellaway

Some strange names there Bobby.

Rehn, Caracella, Wellman.

I still question Phantom's and your thought on Kane Johnson and Wayne Campbell as development coaches??

Wayne Campbell clearly as a contract situation. Kane Johnson has some coaching ambitions and would make a good coach as he has Premiership experience, is a good communicator and teacher to younger guys. I think he will be a future coach in my opinion.

Strange names?

Shaun Rehn has been a coach in SA and a successful one at that, he would impart some serious skill in our young ruckman and would be good with our younger players at Coburg. Also has Premiership experience.

Blake Carracella is highly thought of at Collingwood, is very tactically apt and again his strenght is communicating with players in getting the message across. Would have a previous relationship with Hardwick and has Premiership experience.

Sean Wellman is currently at Melbourne and was at the Bulldogs. He was a teacher in his final days at Essendon and again, main strenght is communication to the players. Again a previous relationship with Hardwick and Premiership experience.

Adam Simpson is the strangest name on my list. He has serious ambitions in coaching, is doing a course funded through the AFL and does a good job now imparting some coaching now with the youngsters at North Melbourne. Played 300 games in the midfield, comes across very well as a good communicator, willing to take a risk with him. A captain and Premiership player.

They just sound like long shots for us to get. I never realised Caracella was highly thought of I must admit. He came across to me as an underperformer, hence Sheedy's move to trade him. I never knew they were close links with Hardwick.

What has Sheedy's move to trade him as a player got to do with him and his coaching at Collingwood?

They are linked to Hardwick as they are former teammates and good friends.

As for being long shots, maybe so, but with their link with Hardwick, they are a possibility.

This is all fantasy stuff though.

To be honest, any of Hardwick, Buckley or Malthouse I would be happy with, and they will bring their own teams.

This is what I would like from the outside looking in.

I just never thought highly of Caracella as a player, and most Scumwood supporters I know (and there's a lot where I live....unfortunately ;D) haven't been positive on Caracella as assistant coach....then again they whinge on everyone.

I'll agree with Rehn and Wellman though. Interesting weeks to come.

At dinner tonight, spoke with a friend who is in a position where he constantly analyzes companies for their investment value. He's a Tiger supporter too.
He isn't within the club. So it was interesting to listen to the views of an outsider.

Made the point that position on the ladder is the objective value to place on an AFL footy team, and that its future value can only be judged by its number of emerging players that will carry it into the future.

His main 2 points against the Tiges:

1. It's failure to trim its twilighters that gave no future value to a club that was currently in 15th position.

2. That its strategies for the future must be in having & providing the best if it is to become the best, which aren't apparent.
The best coaches
The best players
The best training facilities, etc, etc.

1. L.Matthews
2. M.Williams
3. K.Sheedy

How any of you could want Malthouse after he's spent so long with that scum at Collingwood....!!

pfft!
