When will Bernie go !!

We still need to win 6 out of our last 11 games to make finals. I hope like hell that this is the real deal this time and not another false dawn.

I've been a member of this footy club for way too many years now to be seduced into thinking we have a finals winning team at round 11. I'll keep turning up each week and barrack hard for my beloved tigers and celebrate every victory, but I'm not taking anything for granted.

Geez it's good to be alive when the tigers are winning.

6 out of 11 is another wasted year,

We need to win at least 8 to give us a chance of top 4.

correct.

once again, dimma's failure to bring match day acumen could cost us a top four berth.

If recent history is anything to go by, the board will be close to offering him an extension.

Yer, the Dogs were crap in 2016; only managed seventh ... another wasted year for them.

You should tell Toby they don't have a top 4 list.

Do you really want to see us in another EF under Hardwick?

Although if we ever got past an EF we'd be very dangerous just on adrenaline.

The task for Dimma redemption is clear win the return games against Freo and GWS to even the ledger and win at least 6 out of the other 9 with enough percentage to snare at least 4th.

I wouldve thought if we scrapped into the 8 on percentage, then won the flag, he'd be choccas with redemption.

Oh, wait a minute, im using past tense in the future.

I do think

Looks like Dimmas pretty safe in the back half of the season anyway.

I'd be OK with that but if that did happen I'd suggest Dimma would have to kiss each player's bare ass in gratitude.

Not too sure which Toby you are referring to, or the relevance. If Nank, well my previous point was, not making the top-4 did not stop the Dogs from winning the flag. But I made my point, proven by your last sentence.

I think Tiger supporters will be delighted if we make the finals this year, given the real frustration over last year's flop. Once there, anything can happen. Every game is different; you well know how different the team make-up this year is, not to mention the off-field staff. There's nothing to say we will lose another EF necessarily.

It would be fantastic to make that top 4 though. Playing a final at the G is a major factor in our favour. But, overall, my view is that we had to "take one step back (2016) to take two forward (2017) ..." Also that this IS "the best list Dimma has ever had". We had to go back and redraft the speedy and skilled youngsters that we were denied access to over the years where the expansion clubs raped the draft, then it takes time for them to step up etc.

Therefore, I believe there is plenty of improvement still to come from the likes of Rioli, Butler, Menadue, Markov, Bolton, Castagna, hopefully CEllis, Garthwaite, Graham and Drummond. Nankervis is still young along with other guys reaching their prime like BEllis, McIntosh and Vlastuin. If only Griffiths was well and firing, or Elton could finally impact at the level, we would be a greater threat in 2017.

As it is, I just see our window re-opening. If only we had succeeded with some KPPs. I am very positive about the years beyond, not 2017 so much. We might give a good account of ourselves if we do make any final this year, but the inexperience of so many young players I expect to be a factor. Even if we were to lose another EF, I think it will be a much closer and tougher match.

Best list Dimma's had ey?

Only one legitimate ruck option and only one legitimate tall forward. No quarterback.

We addressed our lack of speed with a recruiting U turn end of 14 after Dimma's vanilla stodge preference proved unsatisfying, but...

Our guns all 8 years older than when Dimma joined.

I see our window opening end of 2013, Statistically we were the second best Victorian side 2013 -2015. Ironically our failure to consolidate a top 4 spot and early exits helped the Hawks who manage to get a lot of games at home against interstate clubs in those finals series and avoided us.

Realistically we have to cash in next 2 maybe 3 years because the decline in performance for our 30 yos or nearing 30s guns will hit then (hopefully not sooner)
