His outward persona to me suggests he has never given the players a decent spray in his time as coach. Nor has he ever (as far as I know) smashed them with a dawn training session after a really pathetic loss. Some would argue this is how modern footy is, but I still think there is a time and a place for some of these old school techniques.
Pretty sure I remember some players coming out and saying they copped a fair spray after 'one of the many' poor performances we have seen over the years. While I would like Hardwick gone, what is the point in making stuff up?

RICHMOND coach Damian Hardwick delivered a withering spray to his players after their disappointing 50-point loss to Essendon, and later conceded the Tigers were “a very mediocre football side at the moment’’.
Asked about yelling at the Richmond players behind closed doors in the rooms after the final siren, Hardwick said “the performance validated it’’.
“We dish up that sort of performance I think it’s fair, to be expected,’’ Hardwick said. “You get belted in contested ball, you get belted in tackles, you’re a fair chance to expect a spray at the end of the game..."
