When will Bernie go !!

Nah you wanted us to lose, and stated it categorically.

This is a Richmond fan site, so I reckon if you are hoping for a Carlton win regardless of the circumstances you deserve to cop it.

No genuine Richmond supporter would ever hope for a Richmond loss to Carlton.

No hiding here. Your post is blind stupidity mate. A loss wouldn't have hurt the big picture. The alternative is Hardwick sticking to this game plan which is also welcome. I will post with or without your approval dude :hihi

I thought it was pretty categorical too.

Where have I denied it? I still think Hardwick should go. What's changed? A loss would've turned up the heat, I don't care how it occurs.

Your position is bone headed but I don't mind at all.

Hey Baron, you posted it, you own it brother. If you want to flick the switch now to sweetness and light and we all love Dimma again, that's fine, but expect a bit of flack over expressing a desire for us to lose. To Carlton no less.

My take:

Game plan - nice. Great effort to get bodies around the ball, press in the midfield and forward. Apart from the third Q we did this well all night. Small forward combo great. Pleasing we did so well goal kicking without big contributions from Jack/Griffens. Higher risk but definitely higher reward. Tackle count - brilliant. Especially since usually a higher tackle count comes from a losing side, not a winning one.

Defence - issues. That Cartoon kicked 14 goals against us is worry. Part of this is the risk of the new game plan - better sides will slingshot more effectively. On the plus side this was with Rance not having a super game, and that doesn't happen often. Not convinced on KMac, Bellis (although he did well last night) and Houli as the best options going forward - they may be rusty, but they need to get better fast. When Vlastuin went back and KMac forward they both looked better. Let's hope Dimma doesn't persist too long with those experiments unless they get better soon.

Haven't denied it. Still think it. So attack at will.

Nice analysis BTW. B Ellis was very, very good last night.

Exactly the type that Easy constantly gets wrong :hihi

No need to attack, but expect some gentle ribbing... not so gentle from some perhaps.

On my analysis, mostly stolen from ABC radio as I walked home but thanks I'm working on it.

Now that we've won our first game, I'm not against winning again :hihi twenty goals is plenty addictive.

But if Collingwood beat us, I hope it's by 100+ points.

We need Leppa or Cara front and centre ASAP.

That's it in a nutshell, although I would add that I find it strange that a poster could be so passionate about the club and not understand its history.

The question needs to be asked why are organizations/ groups so stubborn?

Most pundits on here, even the more optimistic have agreed that the team could not afford to have four maybe five turnover merchants in the back half (Houli, Hunt, Ellis, Mc lntosh and to a lesser extent Conca).
After Rd 1 selection many predicted the outcome and it was on show for all to see last night, our half back line defence and rebound was poor to let a bottom side like Carlton kick 14 goals.
Delighted with the forwards and surprisingly the selections have already put pressure on Lloyd to be more than one dimensional, just wonder why the Club/coach cannot see what most see from the outer regarding the defence. Would be delighted if some younger players were inserted into the defence in place of at least three of the five named. The fear is we will see the return of the likes of Morris or Batchelor, already proven to be deficient.

a touch of john howard regret, but I bet that feels better?

And He entered the Richmond place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Jack Dyer 9:12

I honestly thought it was a pretty good start but gameplans are better tested against better opposition.
Carlton may well end up no being the easybeats everyone thinks they are too.
We will find out more in coming weeks.

TOT's final point in the other thread summed it up though. Jack, Cotch, Rance - Below average yet we still won by 7 goals easily. That's a good sign no matter how weak the opposition are.

I think the commentators said at quarter time that our 7 goal quarter was higher than any quarter we played last year.

That's pretty damning of what went wrong last year and indicative of how things changed over summer.

The game plam is not sophisticated. We move the ball forward rather than back and when we can and have the opportunity we move the ball quickly.

The other change is we have a player deep forward almost all the time and our standard set up is 6 at the back rather than 7.

We try to eliminate back half turnovers by moving the ball quickly forward rather than back and sideways.

The positive thing is that the system seen in the JLT was replicated in round 1. The frustrating thing in previous seasons was that there was no consistency or rhyme or reason in how we played. Nice change.

Love the tackling and attack on man and ball rather than relying on coralling and zoning.

We have played the forward press for a while but historically we play it 5 against 6 or 7 and we had three talls and we would see sides waltz it out easily. Vickery got a bit of heat for lack of intensity and rightly so but he was on a hiding to nothing. Now we match numbers or outnumber and we have real pressure from Butler, Castagna and Rioli and with the defence under pressure from quick ball movement and some elite speed other players get into the action like Jack's career high 7 tackles. Note that all three smalls were here last year and available as was Short or Markov if you wanted to employ the same tactic.

The positive is that as the game plan is at present fairly basic, with time it could be become tweaked and even more effective.

There is a lot of common sense in our approach which was a rarity in years past. Congrats to Caracella.

Hardwick's domain in defence still needs some tweaking. Does Blake do overtime?
