When will Bernie go !!

TOT's final point in the other thread summed it up though. Jack, Cotch, Rance - Below average yet we still won by 7 goals easily. That's a good sign no matter how weak the opposition are.

Perhaps but all those players will need to play a lot better if we are to beat quality opposition.

The game plan is not sophisticated. We move the ball forward rather than back and when we can and have the opportunity we move the ball quickly.

The other change is we have a player deep forward almost all the time

yep, its pretty simple.

We werent good enough to use this game plan last year. More about players than coach.

Oi. You can't post stuff like that on here. People will bag you out n carry on like Dimma is Beelzebub's second cousin n you must also be related for suggesting the players have anything to do with how we perform each week.

Nonsense. This is a Club, Coaches and Football department led change. Players don't take it upon themselves to change the whole gamestyle of a team.

There will be those who believe Dimma has been dragged kicking and screaming into supporting it and those who believe he has led it. I have no idea what the truth is but all we can deal with are the facts i.e. we had a football review, there was a massive cleanout of football and coaching staff, we employed one of the most successful administrators in the AFL and the gameplan has changed.

My view has always been that if we blame the Coach for failures because he is accountable we should be willing to applaud him for successes because he is just as accountable for those.

Sorry Achilles, just cant agree.

It's obvious the change is game plan. We could have played exactly the same forward line last year or even use Shorty, Markov, Lambert as pressure forwards or extra runners.

We did have a weakness in the ruck granted but could have rotated our talls through there and still got some ground cover.

Dion is a big in but Lids is a big loss.

Caddy is just solid depth.

An example how poor a coach Hardwick is, he persisted with 'frontal pressure' asking 5 forwards (with 3 talls) to combat 6 or 7 defenders. Everyone is familiar with how teams just waltzed the ball out under little pressure.

That was because of Hardwick's hard on for the extra defender. Now our seventh defender is our deep forward. So we swap an ineffective Houli or Ellis structurally getting cheap ball and doing not much for say a Dusty deep. Errr duh!!

Also there is no movement back or sideways unless we have no other option. Our kicking looks better (queue BEllis and Baron's faith) because we have more targets forward of the ball.

It will be interesting to see how this new game plan holds up because teams like Hawks and Essendon still are switching back and sideways a lot. As I said our new game plan is fairly simple but ATM effective.

Interesting year coming up.

No way. Dimma is just implementing what Balme and Blake are telling him to do. He's a puppet. Unless we start losing again. That means Dimma has been given back control.

Hardwick clearly gets his way some times, otherwise the likes of Hunt, Houli and BEllis wouldnt get a game.
but as a trade off he has to play Castagna and Butler, as fast attacking football.

You don't honestly believe that do you ? Plenty would have Houli and BEllis in their best 22, me included

Conversely, if you never entirely laid blame at the coaches feet for the losses, then he cant take all your accolades for the wins.

yep its a good rationale point.

doesnt really belong on this waning thread.

Makes perfect sense. If the team has a player I don't like, it's because Dimma picked him. Players I like, the selection panel picked them. Simple!

Control of the Asylum seems to have been wrestled back?

happened even quicker than I expected

That's what happens when we win ET. If we loose next week they will be back louder and stronger, you can be assured.

Ah Sinner, I think you missed that big pool of sarcasm you just fell into

I did but not on that one. I can't be expected to know who is serious and who isn't can I when the sarcasm icon is not used ?

Especially when such a view may not be out of place on this site ....

To use Tiger Masochists logic in reverse, it looks like the players have been patiently waiting for the right assistant coaches to turn up. Seems they can follow numerous game plans explained to them.

So who is responsible for our offensive game?

Are some suggesting it's 10 goals a game is a good game Hardwick?

He is the coach so of course he is responsible.

Suggesting otherwise is guesswork and based on an inbuit prejudice against anything the coach does
