Toby once you get your head around the fact we underperformed from 2013 -2016 you might find your answer.

I see. So you can't explain it.

Carry on.

It interesting though, don't you think?

Have you ever wondered how the coach could be so horrible yet the players still won 15 games in 2013 and 2015? How could that happen?

Can you explain it, given its your story?

What a list it was eh?

Was certainly wrong on the quality of this year's list and happy to admit it, but not on previous years. Not by a long shot.

Game plan was based on players we had, didn't stand up in finals. Went back to the well to increase class and speed. Incredibly brave and smart by dimma and the hierarchy to do it. Everything they said was wrong and everything they said needed to happen has been proven correct and has come to pass.

Wasn't Foley injured for much of that time Lamb? I'd say Alex, Trent, Dusty are better now than then too. You seem to have forgotten Chaplin. McBean brings the overall quality down as does Griffins to a lesser extent. Where's Tyrone?
Knights never did anything of note either the poor bugger. Grimes was always injured. Newman average. Bellis was going through his sh!t phase. Maric was cooked. Jake was done.

Side this year is streets ahead of that one, even though you've included injured players and tried to hide others you didn't fancy. Also Nahas LOL

I just picked the team to reflect the type of team we play today. I'd probably give Beanie a more prominent role. ;) Maric was in his prime in 2013 BTW. BEllis not yet entered the doldrums of 15/16. Jakey got injured either late that year or the next.

I'd say Alex and Dusty are better now but Cotch just came off a brownlow and Jack was in his awesomeness stage.

We did lack some polished outside run but even on exposed form that team only missed top 4 because of a loss to Carlton in rd 21 when we were 5 goals up.

Had we pinched 4th we would have played Hawks first qualifying after having flogged them 5 weeks earlier. Might have been having our present excitement 4 years earlier.

Like I said fine margins between success and failure.

Certainly makes more sense than some of the other poo being flung around on this thread.

Yeah nah!

First we only changed recruiting tack end of 2014 so Dimma thought everything was hunky dory in 13.

The game plan that was flawed and triggered the about face in recruiting was introduced by Dimma in 2014 - the backwards/sludge/slide. The playing of drones was a Dimma choice not a list issue. These are the Hardwick foibles many have raised and argued against since 2014

Your recreating of history is a real hoot!

Far from interesting. This is the most ridiculous argument I have ever read.

Players have peaks in their careers. They don't come in as champions. They develop!

swop the young 2013 Cotch, Dusty and Rance for their 2017 selves and we easily beat Carlton. Almost certainly beat Nth.

Their are 6 to 8 players who go into the best 22 ahead of the 2013 side.

6-8 players from our best 22 would not have played in another top 8 side!

It's the official narrative. Yours is just a crackpot conspiracy theory.

Don't you guys understand development?

Players develop. Lists develop, coaches develop. Clubs develop and allow all parts of it to grow.

Dima has been a big part of going from a Joke club to last Friday nights win. That has really happened.

Let go of your hate and look at the real world!

What you thought was right for the club in 2012 is long gone and in the real world we are a contender! Your theories may be insightful. But The club has done it in reality!

Get over it. Be adults. Hardwick has been a very good coach. May yet be a premiership coach!

Oh the OFFICIAL narrative! Do you get talking points each morning? ;D

Cheers Snakey!

Go Tiges!

Ninja, why don't you just stop bagging lists past and concentrate on the bigger picture.

PS Reigning brownlow and Coleman medalists probably ain't much chop the year after ;)

Go Tiges!

Geez I was going to let it go but you just have no idea.

Do you think we lost to North and Carlton because we had INFERIOR lists? OMG! Talk about drinking the kool aid.

We beat grand finalists and premiers in our elimination loss years FFS.

Lots of things were hunky dory in 2013, right up until the second half of a certain final against Carlscum. The changes were implemented after this game.
Dimma was absolutely filthy that we had capitulated n were totally defenceless when Carlscum got on a roll. They weren't the only team to blow holes in our game style but the changes to game style started in the pre season.
Players drafted that year, Lennon, Gordon, Lloyd, Petterd, Banfield, Miles, Thomas. Traded in Hamster. Not a lot of skinny fast rodents or kiddies in need of years of development, plenty of mature hard bodies for contested footy.

You need to send a memo to Snakey. You have obviously got the wrong talking points .

I think the topic today was class and speed.

Here we are again Mutton, with the question you can't answer.

If our coach is so *smile* and he caused us to lose those finals (which is your implication, I'm sure- couldn't be the players that crumbled on the big stage could it) then how did that same *smile* coach coach those teams to wins against the grand finalists and premiers in those years? Because he was a *smile* coach all the season, not just in September remember.

How did it happen?

Dimma said last year

'we have to take a step back to take a step forward'

well it was a huge step back, and a huge step forward.

By my reckoning, that makes Dimma really right?

last year taught us stuff. der. how to hold onto the ball and set, and how horrible losing is.

I wonder if he'll go down as the best worst coach ever,

or the worst best coach ever?
