When will Bernie go !!

Have the Suns been fishing?

But he is contracted for next year. He wasn't sacked and was supported last year. They would hold him to that contract. In fact see Dimma being very loyal to the club for sticking by him last year

Christ I'm surprised Hardwick can tie his own shoelaces considering the all consuming needs you say he has. That is one silly post but hey everybody is entitled to an opinion. :cutelaugh
Guess it's just easier to hate than to think rationally.

Eighteen teams in the comp n only one winner each year. Always going to be seventeen *smile* coaches.

Same Baron & Al & others.

Let's see what eventuates.

He is contracted till the end of 2018, hence Dimma in no rush.

Apparently Dimma will be offered an extension at end of year.

Benny Gale on SEN

Anyone confirm?

I heard the interview. I don't think Benny said that. He was asked the question and from my recollection said that it wasn't the time now to worry about that.

Dimma basically said the same thing on Talking Footy. Said he hadn't even thought about it but it might be something they talk about after the season.

why are you gloating?

the jury is still out whether Dimma is a good coach.

the QF win is sublime, we're all on cloud nine. but the players are telling us that the new assistants, along with fly, are a heavy influence.

two things I am happy to concede are:

1) dimma has done well to keep the players on-side

2) a man can evolve. dimma has no doubt learned much over the past twelve months

hence my confusion - why are a bunch of posters coming on here looking for apologies when they should simply to happy to see flag 11 on the horizon?

do ya think Chris Scott is a good coach? he's a premiership coach but benefited from an all-star assistant roster and a great playing list.

Interesting questions that should be obvious to anyone with a brain, and I've already answered the lot, but I'm happy to go again for the hillbilly holdouts.

Why am I gloating? Because that's what we do when you've laid it all out and you turn out to be right, especially on all matters footy. Remember the famous Williamson line? 'I tipped this!'

So that should put the alleged confusion to bed.

As for the jury is still out on Dimma being a good coach. Now lets break that one down for the Gary Ablett of goal post shifting:

If you read back over all the Dimma bagging threads, including this one, (don't expect you to of course, but hypothetically), you would find that the consensus for a pass-mark for Dimma this year, dark/ light, smart/ dumb, a) was making the 8, and more importantly for reasons we are all well aware of, b) winning a final.

He has exceeded that, if we scrapped into 7th or 8th and then we'd fallen in against a West Coast or an Essendon, that would have been a pass, based on the consensus view. We made top 4, double tick, then we owned the second placed side and nemesis Geelong to secure a prelim and week off, double tick.

So by any measure, Dimma has met the bar set this year, and by some margin, that, by definition, makes him a good coach, no jury needed because we already had clear criteria, which he met and exceeded.

So we can put that one to bed too, Dimma is a good coach.

This whole modus operandi of praising the assistants when we win and blaming Dimma when we lose, can people not see how mental that is? We all know the performance and makeup of the coaching team is important, but fair dinkum. As the old St K gangster who taught me my trade used to say, 'people have got some funny ideas'.

Now is he a great coach? We don't know the answer to that question yet. 8-

I hope that Hardwick gets to be remembered as a Richmond premiership coach in the same manner that Bruce Monteath is remembered as being a RFC premiership captain.

When you can't quite work out if they're taking the *smile* or not, its a doozy.

I still dunno why you're gloating. It's not clear.

You're saying that Hardwick is absolved from past mistakes?

That all criticism of him is invalid?

I'm happy for him to complete his contract, no more.

A few of us have critiqued his tactical nous, match day coaching and stats-obsessed philosophy for years now.

That was addressed in the off season. Look where we are now.

I don't see any gloating from the likes of Harry, Lamby and Leysy.

Your entire argument seems to be based around Dimma being validated after winning his first final in eight years.

Sorry, doesn't wash. It has all the complexity and sophistication of a meat pie.

Dimma has backed up 3-4 years of poor performance with a good year.

Does that validate the extension, or the bizarre faith showered on him by posters like you?

Not by a long shot.

He and the management have built a list with players growing up together. We have a clear horizon and the future is unlimited. It has taken a long time to build a culture that was bereft.

The players are united, basically 44 musketeers. Some supporters will never be satisfied. The past is the past and cannot be changed. Dimma has owned his errors and become better. How many darksiders have changed?

Huh? That's a bit of a crock imo. 2016 was a poor performance. Other than that the Tigers have gradually improved. When he took over the Tiges we were a bottom 2 side. Gradually our performances improved to our first top 8 finish in 2013, first time in 12 years. We have remained in the top 8 for 3 of the next 4 years, the only real blemish was in 2016. I a m a firm believer that, in most cases, you have to experience a relatively lengthy period at that top half and finals experience before you are a genuine chance of the ultimate success. I just don't agree that Dimma has been poor for 3 of the last 4 years. Good coaches continually evolve the playing list and game plan and that's exactly what Hardwick has done. That's not to say there hasn;t been frustration fo rall of us along the way. But that is normal pprocess imo.

like I said, the Gary Ablett of goal post shifting. Either you didn't read my post, are incapable of comprehending it, or are just taking the *smile*. It's all in keeping though so no surprises.

Already had more than half my posts up before Carts even joined the forum Hazza.

Dimma on TF last night was good value. The usual spin and a bit of humour but made some good comments around the "we will make finals next year " statement. Like hed been drinking when he said it :hihi

He did say what gave him confidence was he knew that Caddy, Prestia and Nackers were likely to come, and that blokes with Fly were coming along nicely. Also mentioned Leopards being really keen to trial a small forward line in one of the NAB Cup games.

Dimma is not one to withhold giving credit to others. A mature leader.
