When will Bernie go !!

FWIW I believe that an ex player shouldn't coach at the club where they played as their first Senior gig..Only one I can think of was Roos at Sydney, and even then he was out of the game four yrs before he started as an assistant at the swans. We've seen "favorite sons" fail so many times..eg Hird, Vossy etc..

Would love the pies to get Maxwell, Lockyer or Burns to do the job. Would mean more years in the wilderness for them..

In Dimma's tenure he's had a Brownlow medalist, potentially a 2 time Brownlow runner up, one of the best full backs of all time and a 2 time Coleman Medalist for 0 finals wins. We now are positioned with no young gun defender coming through, no key forward coming through and no outstanding young mid coming through. Scary times

I am curious about the Cornes statement and Dimmas response.
Cornes suggested we had gotten ahead of ourselves and Dimma got upset, saying he is piaid to write that rubbish.
But, in my view, getting ahead of ourselves was exactly what happened last night.
No crime in that. It needs to be admitted, if so, and addressed.
What do others think.?
There had to be a reason why the whole side was not switched on.
Unless there is another undisclosed reason, then they had gotten ahead of themselves.

Cornes is a flog but he was right on this occasion. and I thought Dimma's response to it was pathetic. typical deflection.

What did cornes say and what was bernies response?

Cornes said Tigers getting ahead of themselves.

When asked, Dimma replied "Cornes is paid to make *smile* comments" or something like that.

Wasn't deflection at all. Just slapped Cornes back after getting fed up with Cornes' persistent sniping. It was the only highlight of the weekend worth remembering imo

Can some expert tell me what "getting ahead of themselves is "?
Ok here are a few explanations -

1) drinking ones own bath water
2) thinking the game is won in your head before the bounce of the ball
3) picking T. Hunt to play

So l guess playing Hunt was the reason the boys were 90 odd points down before half time ?.

It's one of those throwaway cliches. Why would anyone get upset about what Cornes says? Hardwick could have handled it better. I can't see how the Tigers could be getting ahead of themselves. It's not like we've been playing great footy over the year. I don't think we've put a game of 4 quarters together this year.

Actually I don't agree with the few posts in response to mine.
I have just read Cornes response and I think he is spot on.
I know he has history, but what he says is in my view very reasonable and the exact conclusion I came to.
I think Hardwick was in a foul mood and did not like the suggestion the team had got ahead of themselves, taking it as a slight.
It is not. It is an accurate observation and explanation for an unacceptable poor game. Really very poor.
And as Cornes says, quite rightly, we have been poor for ten years. Thirty in truth.

I agree with you P&T

Do not think Caracella will get Cold Pies hot seat as they will most probably in house with either Burns ,Lockyer & dark horse Rocca. Another to be considered who is not in house at the moment is Nick Maxwell at Giants.
You don't think the penny's dropped yet re: appointing a former pies player as coach doesn't work for them?

I've seen Dimma's presser a few times now on the various footy shows.

The reaction to Kane Cornes is interesting. Was Dimma simply embarrassed with the teams performance, which lead to anger over predictable comments from snipers like Cornes, or was there more to it? Dimma's comment 'i'd love to see kane' wasn't a physical threat, as Dimma is too savvy for that. It sounded like a hint that Kane didn't know what he was talking about and that something else had happened.

I'm still livid about the loss. Every time we are presented with an opportunity we seemingly go to water. Having said that, there is usually a continuum of effort under Dimma at the very least. I believe something happened to rock morale. It may have been a personal issue within the club. These things happen.

What matters now is Brisbane. If we can lose by ten goals, we can stomp throats too.
