Welcome Tom Brown

A lot to like, looked like he had time when he had the pill and is a good kick

Has a bit of cockiness about him I reckon, like he’s knows he AFL standard. Great blind turn under pressure.

Thought he showed plenty in the first half of the game. Some beautiful disposal & decision making. Got a bit ragged as it went on & pulled up short a couple of times.
A lot to like though. Has had a taste. Big preseason again son.

He will play higher pressure games than yesterday, but you can see what the recruiters saw in him (and Banks.)
Both have size, move well, are skilled and composed.

If they live up to their potential, they will both help our ball movement a lot.

Liked his blind turn in the middle of the ground, just needs to play every week next year and see what he becomes. Pleasing he made a good go of it yesterday

Gibcus & Brown as our 2 first rounders from 21 draft.

Early days but not looking so bad after all

In the first half his delivery by foot is exactly what we have been lacking since chaos was declared dead. It was laser like.
Some promising signs for sure, only a sneak preview but it makes trading Short all the more viable.

What don't you agree with? That Vlastuin and Broad don't run at about 30% contested possessions? Its right there in their stats. Its not for you to agree with, its cold hard facts. Brown needs to be running at a similar level to play similar roles to them as a midsize defender.
I don't agree that if his (Brown’s) disposal skills are elite, that it doesn't matter if he can’t get the contested football.
I also don’t agree that NV is other than excellent in the contest.
You can’t use statistics to make a case for a running defender who doesn’t contest. All of our players must be able to contest with vigour and belief.

Not as if there's no hope. Watched Shane Edwards and Bachar Houli turn from timidity to fearless beasts over a few seasons. But yeah, ya wish he already had it.

I put it elsewhere, if you look at Vlaustin's stats over his career, you'll see as he got bigger/more experienced he hit/won more contests. I'm not saying they'll be the same player, just that Vlaustin didn't start AFL life as the player we see now.
Brown has barely played enough games to fill a season, so I can understand why he'd potentially lack confidence in his body.
If we get a decent elite performance team onto him, I think we'll see some improvement there.
