Welcome Tom Brown

Based on that Tarranto should be leading the league in disposals considering Daicos takes a lot of kick ins
When we played the swans Blakeys have got talked up cos he had 30 disposals, ignoring the fact over 10 of them were kick ins. He did play well, but if he had 20 kicks his hand would have been judged very differently.

But anyway this is the Tom Brown thread so we should get back to JVR and our drafting.

Most impressive for me in an AFL sence yesterday, good signs in many ways .

Liked Banks and signs from Coulthard

Stats can be a good guide. Your eyes can be a better one.

And what were your eyes telling you on his game yesterday @richards42 ?, I was at the game and Brown was creative and around the contest all day, easily his best game IMO so promising signs.

Tom Brown has been injured since he walked into the club. Injuries kill young players form and supporters write them off way too early - it was a incredibly encouraging game.

The broken wrist may have been some sort of blessing in disguise for Tom, he has basically had 12 weeks of all he could do was run, with aerobic capacity being a weakness surely it would have been of some benefit to him?

This is actually Morro's VFL report, but it includes some good comments on Brown so posted interview here instead of elsewhere :
Banks also heavily featured and talk of Coulthard blowing up the GPS :)

Coaltrain has timed blowing up the GPS in the small fwd role with melees suspension and MRJ's form perfectly

I think he jumps the queue and debuts against brisbane

Similarly. He's had a good game. Showed a bit. Not gonna *smile* and moan after a bad game, not popping the bubbly after a good one.
Let's get a string of matches under his belt then get excited.
Played really well. His kick ins were a thing of beauty.
He must have heard my hurry up.
I’m as keen as anyone to see him play well because as a club with an aging list, we need to make every post a winner. Football is a results based business and yesterday he showed some metal. May it long continue

That maybe we have the Vlastin replacement on our list already. No need to rush him, let him find some consistency at VFL. With another preseason and a bit of luck with injuries 2024 could be a good year for the kid

To the VFL watchers, any chance he could emulate Wanganeen-Milera, that would be a decent outcome & would go some way to justifying his selection.
