Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Could be a premiership player this year. Reckon he will struggle to get a game with Bolton and Stengel tearing it up.

The reality is that Bolton and Stengle are undoubtedly more talented than George, but right now both aren't conditioned enough to give a high intensity four qtr effort. As annoying as George's errors are, he is still going as hard at the man and ball in the last minute of the game as he was in the first! Big reason we have got to this point .. higher pressure game based on four qtr effort.

The team is winning but they're carrying George.

Disagree ToO.

He's been poor offensively and looks bereft of confidence.

But as others have pointed out, the days of forwards being judged purely on offense are over.

Workrate and application have never faltered.

As long as the F50 keeps functioning so effectively he stays.

So long as we win the flag I couldn't really care who the personnel are and admit it would be very tough to change a winning outfit.
However if you have an opportunity to make a team better, then you do, whether you're winning or not.
Otherwise it's unfair to players bashing the door down and that can breed discontentment.
George is not doing anywhere near enough IMO to justify his spot.

Agree with all that, Castagna is playing a role but there are others with more skill that could do it.
Short is one who has the pace and footy smarts to be able to play that role.

Costanza stays in! Great mark and goal, great pressure. If he gets one goal along with his other work he's done his job.

Upgrade with TyBolt in the preseason.

A lot of spotlight on George... end of the day he had more pressure acts than Rioli and butler... more tackles, more goals, more goal assists, more clearances and more marks than Rioli.... people won't be calling for his head though and I'm not a massive Castagna fan.. just stating his worth. He will be upgraded by the two in the vfl next year.

Short has a totally different defensive presence for mine.

Can we re-nickname George the master? Master of his domain? The little master?

The little master looks to suffer from performance anxiety, which is fixable with confidence. That's why I think his recent goal (reducing fears of embarrassing himself in a big final) translates to a more confident little master in the prelim.

He'll get it up in the first quarter now.

I agree. I think the difference in opinion is emotionally influenced partly because Rioli's flashes of brilliance are offset by absence, while the little Master's brilliance is offset by frustrating mistakes. It's a case of if you don't have anything to say then it's better to keep your mouth shut than to say anything at all.

He did fumble early but got better as the game went on. His repeat effort handball to Butler for a goal sums him up. Will be better for the run.

Yeh, he did some very good things.

The chase and tackle after a stewart fumble, the assist to Butler. He competed in the air a number of times when he had to as well.

He tried to take a couple of balls one-handed, it was slippery and he fumbled. Prestia fumbled a couple the same as did Lambert.

I think people under-estimate how important the smalls are at preventing the quit exit. Very rare for the opposition to get the ball out quickly, to switch etc. Assists our defence no end.

That last mark and goal was a ripper.

He's big, strong, fit and fast. Have a sneaky feeling GWS won't be able to contain him.

A part in. Not a major part.
Disagree. Dont think Bolton or Stengle could give the same sustained level of pressure George does for four quarters at this stage.

No chance George goes.

Team. Will. Not. Change. (except injury of course).

Agreed, it's paying $1.01 right now. It's playing $1.20 as a multi with our GF team (barring injury)

Yeah thought george was pretty good after watching the replay.

Two critical fumbles in the 1st half and a nutmeg also. Hard hands. We could use with some additional class. I would swap with Short
