Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

George has to get better with composure and conversion but he wants to get involved. I reckon he can get better at these things with more games at the level. He is a terrific mark for his size and I prefer him to Butler if it came down to the 2 of them. But I'd play them both and drop B Ellis and give them some time in open space.

He's kicked 11 goals in 9 games. How many Richmond players kicked 10 goals last season? I'll guess six (Jack, Lloyd, Griff, Ty, Grigg, Chimp. Dusty didn't). He's on track for 27 for the year.

It's hard to get a kick in our forward line, the way we bomb it to the outnumber. I'd keep him in (especially given the alternatives). If Butler is right, maybe give him a freshen up in the twos to give $hai another go.

Or that.

Yep hard for him with the raja ole bombing into the fowards line with next to no one to bring it to ground ...
Play him
Or butler up on the wing for a spell

lol comparing him to those two.

?? we're comparing missed sodas aren't we ToO, not career stats. george is no world beater but he's been good and won't be dropped. need more like him, not less.

if we're gonna pick deflating moments, I'd argue dusty's was worse.

lol right back at ya buddy! ;D

Baz has got to clutch at any straw he can when he champions an underformer he likes.
At least young George is consistent, he's been averaging 6 effective disposals a game for a few weeks now. Funny how few think Georges mediocrity and deficiencies are "all fine" but others are due all the criticism that comes their way for the same issues in their game.

Baz is quick to point the finger at others he believes are underperformers that are still outperforming his underperformer ;D
What a battle of the underperformers it is.

where's all this coming from Willo, you Lambo's brother or summin?

don't care either way, george is what he is, a chaos machine who can do the dynamically unexpected (who knew he had such a neat left foot?) and the abysmal within a minute. I like him, all teams need players like that.

lambo, on the other hand, is just a dud.

d. u. d.

sorry bud, the lambo appreciation society is a rundown shack in broadmeadows :hihi

Remind him how good Bellis is going at the moment. A "jet", according to the Baron. Mind you, Bellis was part of the top four list that Carts thought we had until a week ago when he did the biggest backflip of all time and told us we needed a full rebuild :hihi

It's not too late for Brandon to realise his potential. Good player, started off as a jet and could be again.

As for willo's call to drop george, I can only say that is misguided.

Even you got George right this week, though I suspect you read a few others posts first.

Even you got the fact that the list is mediocre right after three years of saying how great and super top four it was, though I suspect you read several hundred others posts first.

Yep, Jason is "uneven" and obviously needs work but as a small forward he's kicked 11 goals from his 9 games. Hopefully kicks 30 for the season.

Since Ty & Lids' departures who, other than Jack, makes you feel confident when taking a set shot? Dusty doesn't. Grigga doesn't. None of the new brigade do. Such a basic skill. Scoreboard pressure is the best kind. *smile* Wossy Wyon and grinding out low scoring snorefests. You want to take the wind out of the sails of your opposition. *smile*ing SCORE!

Chimp.

Nice try, but no, I actually said we look way short of top four in this campaign.

Lack of midfield depth and marking support being red alert areas.

Strange, I recall you saying we need a full rebuild. Oh look, here's the thread - FULL REBUILD http://puntroadend.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=53165.0

Anyway, George is doing OK. Would be nice if he got his hands on it more - I'm not convinced he can ever transition to midfield so he'll be to be the sharpest of sharp small forwards to build a career. Brando? His career has been trending down for three years - maybe he was overrated to begin with, but he's never going to be a "jet". Like I keep saying, his kicking is shizen and he keeps proving me right every week.

I've already said we were challengers in previous seasons, not so much this year. Yes, a full rebuild might be required as we may not be able to rectify current issues before the big four are declining.

Don't expect you to understand, Antman.

Dude, I told you only a month ago that we wouldn't challenge until we had a decent marking forward to support Reiwoldt.

This guy, repeats what others have been saying for months, then reckons he should get the Nobel Prize for stating the obvious.

The lack of midfield depth and marking support have been red alert areas for years, even in those years where we apparently had a top 4 list.

They aren't just suddenly problems now.

No, not quite. We had Tuck, Jacko, etc as depth in 2013 and better tall support in 2015.

Plus, the rest of the comp was different too. Can't look at us in isolation.

We finished fifth in 2013 and 2015. Top four was beckoning and probably should've been made considering some losses.

Can't see it happening this year and the clock keeps ticking for the big four.

Hence rebuild comes into the picture.

Dude, I seriously doubt you've gotten anything right.

Not on your own anyway.

Nah never had tall support.

Even last year you were talking top 4 list. Tuck and Jackson who are only 2 players long gone by then.

Two glaring weaknesses in the list that have been so for years.

last year I am prepared to concede, but not before then. from 2013-15 we had a fair dinkum chance to go deep and we blew it.
